Artworx Gallery and Gifts - Goolwa Artworx Gallery & Gift Store in Goolwa, South Australia is a regular award winner and the finest contemporary art gallery on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Artworx Gallery & Gifts opened in October 2005 in the historic river port of Goolwa, 80 kilometres south of South Australia's capital city of Adelaide. Displaying original art, jewellery and sculptures, Artworx is located in the centre of Goolwa's heritage precinct, in an 1850s stone cottage and warehouse near the town's restaurants, hotels and historic wharf and railway station, where paddle steamers and steam rains rule.

Dave Clarke is a freelance sculptor and prop maker. He creates his works primarily in bronze and copper as well as a host of other mediums. His inspiration is drawn from his great love of the flora and fauna of South Australia and its coastline. He amplifies the scale, accentuates the beauty and highlights the sometimes unusual traits of some of the ocean’s smallest and most elusive creatures.

Amongst our current collection in the gallery, we have three truly unique, one of a kind embroidered mini pieces on canvas by - created in her historic 1860s horse stable studio in the Adelaide CBD.

Cheryl’s work sits between dream and reality, drawing you in with intricate detail and texture that connects emotionally.

Each piece begins as a sketch of Cheryl’s ideas and dreams, then is built by hand using layered thread colours and millions of stitches to create her embroidered visual stories - a true work of art.

“I love the creativeness of this piece. It’s simple yet complex. There is so much to look at, the different characters scattered across the beach, the way they lie, what they are wearing, and the colourful umbrellas.

It brings back memories of my younger years, enjoying fun filled days at the beach with good friends… back when I could wear a bikini! 😂

And the name! Such a brilliant title. ‘Fairy Bread’ instantly brings back so many memories throughout my life, childhood parties, then my children’s parties, and now my grandchildren delighting in fairy bread too. It’s a beautiful reminder of how simple things can connect generations.”

Hannah is an artist driven by the satisfaction found in many aspects of working creatively. From seeing ideas come to life, reclaiming discarded items and giving them new purpose, to living simply and staying open to inspiration, her work is grounded in intention and meaning.

A big part of her practice is also about connection, particularly sharing a hands-on creative life with her kids and encouraging them to explore their own simple joys through making and creating.

Hannah finds huge joy in connecting with other artists and embraces the rollercoaster ride that is being an artist.
