"The Landscape Within explores the quiet contradiction of being inside while thinking about the landscape beyond. A woman sits comfortably in her own interior world, reading A Painted Landscape by Amber Creswell Bell, a book about artists and their connections to the Australian landscape. While physically surrounded by the familiar comforts of home, she is mentally transported outside, into the landscapes and stories within the pages. I was drawn to the connection between these two spaces, both the interior we create around ourselves and the expansive landscape beyond the window. The open windows become a gentle reminder that the outside world is never far away."artist

Beric Henderson, 'Night Life'.
"This mixed media painting is a return to my earlier Sideshow series inspired by my dreams and love of Victorian era carnivals and museums.
In 2008-2010 I held a series of exhibitions based on my Sideshow project. It reflected a childhood love and fear of dark carnivals and the enigmatic dreamlike quality of the characters that inhabit them. In the small but detailed artwork Night Life, I now revisit this world in the form of a living Curiosity Cabinet. After 15 years, it is like I never left."

"Inspired by butterfly wings, botany and volunteering at The Australian Museum, this haunting modern reliquary brings an assertive, living energy into the quietude of a room.

This sculptural ceramic vase holds an imposing interior presence, claiming space to act as a domestic anchor that redefines the energy of a room. Its flared, crown-like rim and bold, animalistic patterning draw the eye inward, transforming a static indoor environment into a stage for dramatic form and texture, dictating the mood of the space and serving as an architectural focal point."

Penny Verdich, 'Barb's Orange Murano Vase'

"People are only forgotten when we cease to mention them in our conversations, talk about their lives, or chuckle at funny memories. ‘Barb’s Orange Murano Vase’ is one of a series of paintings I am currently working on in which I include an object that belonged to someone who has passed away. Barb was my mother-in-law and her home was beautifully decorated with quality furniture upholstered in lush fabrics, a table set with fine china and glassware and always flowers from the garden in vases. The orange vase is my painting was bought in Murano, the island famous for glass blowing near Venice. It is now filled with flowers in my home and speaks to me of human connection via our memories."

INTERIOR ART PRIZE 2026- Mez Truskett 'Kelvin Ate Her'.
A painting inspired by childhood memories, of feeling safe and loved. The joy of being a child without boundaries and everyday is an adventure.

The house is a 1950’s original built cottage, which has been thoughtfully renovated to maintain the character charm of that era. My current series is based on the interior setting, particularly the kitchen, as it played an important role in bringing family together as the central hub of the home. I tend to leave out the figure in these current works and instead use the addition of an animal figure, as it not only tends to breathe life into the painting, but it also assists with the narrative as animals have always played an important role in family life. The use of colour, particularly pink and pastels help to depict a happy space where the family gathers to create long lasting memories.
