Outstation Gallery, set on the beautiful Darwin harbour, is a collaboration between two of Darwin’s leading contemporary art gallerists, Matt Ward and Paul Johnstone. United by a shared vision for supporting and promoting world-class Aboriginal art, they work closely with Aboriginal-owned art centres to deliver an exceptional and ethical art experience. Outstation Gallery is also proud to exhibit

contemporary art from non-Indigenous artists who currently reside in, or have a connection to the Darwin region. A modern, flexible, beautifully-lit exhibition space, Outstation Gallery on the Waterfront, welcomes visitors and locals alike, encouraging respect and appreciation for the complex and powerful art, stories and culture on show. Jenni Kemarre Martiniello OAM is one of Australia’s most celebrated and internationally recognised glass artists.

Her practice centres on hot blown glass works that invoke the organic forms of traditional Arrernte woven objects including eel traps, fish traps and dillybags.

This is the final week of ‘Baman’ŋuwuy (From a Long Time Ago) on exhibition at Tactile Arts. It finishes Thursday 20th August.

Joe Dhamanydji and Matthew ‘Teapot’ Djipurrtjun have brought us a powerful show charged with Country.

“Each work, imbued with old knowledge, vibrates with immediacy, almost flickering with movement and life. Of course, what you see here is only the outer layer of deep cultural knowledge these men hold for their respective clan groups.

“These contemporary works are made of Rom, ceremony and songlines, of the past, a long time ago - baman’ŋuwuy. New and old together these works stand firmly in what these two artists believe.” - Hetty Watts, Milingimbi Art and Culture Centre

Today is the last day of Julie and Sabrina Nangala Robertson’s extraordinary show at the Botanic Gardens.

Open until 4pm, seize your chance to visit ‘Nyanyi pına kampa, nyanjara karna yaninjarni (Looking Back, Moving Forward)’ one last time.

This exhibition is about family. Julie and Sabrina are the daughters of Dorothy Napangardi, an artist who redefined what Warlpiri painting could be. And so the exhibition carries weight. Because this painting is remembrance. It is the keeping of a promise - their mother’s wish that her daughters carry her stories forward.

Alongside the SALON des Refusés at Midpul Art Gallery at CDU is the phenomenal Bush Lollies.

These incredible constellations of Pereltye by Nancy and Rene Long fill the annex, continuing the story of their late mother J Long Nampajinpa, who often painted this sweet snack that was found on the leaves of kunjumarra (river red gum trees).

🔊 sound on! A spine tingling opening to Marawili yesterday. Thankyou to everyone who came and celebrated with Buku-Larrnggay Mulka, Djambawa, Wurrandan, Napuwarri and Napunda Marawili - with Barayuwa Munuŋgurr on the Yidaki. One to remember for all time.
