“Thirty minutes from Adelaide’s gridded heart, a barn perches on the edge of a green valley. Here, the past year’s explorations gather. I approach a group of delicate forms displayed across a trio of shelves, and I am lifted by their ascending gestures... I sense a cadence, a gentle expansion of space, animating the starkness of the volumes before me.”

“Stepping into Faint’s exhibition is to enter a space of experimentation where research and speculation collide,” writes Mikala Tai in her essay for ‘Remy Faint: A Site of Unfolding’.

Through assemblage, abstraction and material inquiry, Faint constructs an environment of shifting forms, textiles, shadows and sculptural interventions. Tai considers how the exhibition echoes the archive’s inherent uncertainties, where gaps, obstructions and absences defer certainty and invite ongoing discovery.

Hear from ceramic artists Jordan Gower and Liane Rossler in conversation with curator Eva Czernis-Ryl and craft historian Grace Cochrane AM. Bringing together perspectives across making, design and material culture, the discussion considers how one of the world’s oldest craft traditions continues to evolve through contemporary practice.

Together, the speakers will explore craft knowledge, material transformation and process-led making, while reflecting on the relationship between tradition and experimentation. They will also consider the place of ceramic objects within contemporary galleries, museums and collections, and discuss sustainable approaches to making in an age of mass production.

Utilising a restrained yet highly detailed ceramic vocabulary, Jordan Gower explores material expressions that evoke symbols of longevity, stillness, and transformation.

Through delicately crafted works, Gower invites us to consider: what happens when longevity meets change? What impact can a still object have on us as we move through an increasingly restless world?

‘A Site of Unfolding’ brings newly commissioned works into conversation with historical objects spanning more than a century of material production.

Drawing on family histories and archival encounters, artist Remy Faint reconstitutes objects and images across silk, clay, wood and metal. Through translation, repetition and material transformation, archival sources are reassembled into tactile forms that move between artefact and abstraction.

Rather than treating the past as fixed or singular, ‘A Site of Unfolding’ continually reworks it, creating imagined sites of belonging where personal and collective histories converge through embodied acts of making.

Across this new body of work, Gower reimagines form and surface through layered glazes and minimal ornamentation.

Light settles across each vessel, emphasising shadow, line and repetition. Through subtle shifts in texture and form, the works quietly carry both historical resonance and contemporary innovation, reflecting Gower’s practice as a production artist.
