Australian Aviation Heritage Centre - QLD

Australian Aviation Heritage Centre - QLD The Australian Aviation Heritage Centre of Queensland is dedicated to giving Aviation history a future. Current Projects:
A9-141 DAP Beaufort (Mk.VII) Bomber

Our current main project is the restoration of an Australian-built DAP Beaufort Mark VII Bomber. This aircraft was handed over to the Royal Australian Air Force on 29 October 1942, who assigned it the serial number A9-141. It finished its service life on 26 April 1944, seeing active service defending Australia during this time. With the dedication of a small group of volunteers and the financial s

upport of our sponsors, A9-141 is currently being restored to flight. When completed, it will be the only airworthy Beaufort anywhere in the world of the approximately 1,800 built for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force. We invite you to view the progress of the restoration, to find out some more about the Beaufort - it's production and service with the Royal Australian Air Force. All help with the restoration efforts are appreciated and we would not be anywhere near as far along as we are without the kindness of our volunteers, and the public and private donations that keep this project progressing.

The Beaufort’s were constructed at the main DAP factories in Fishermens Bend in Victoria, and Mascot in New South Wales. Due to the scale of the production in a relatively new industry in Australia, component parts were subcontracted out to 600 suppliers, including state railway workshops in Victoria, NSW and South Australia! 💥
