Located within the grounds of the Caboolture Historical Village, cafe onsite and plenty of parking. The Feather Clubs Association of Queensland Inc promotes the keeping, breeding and showing of exhibition breeds of poultry, waterfowl, turkeys, pigeons and cage birds. Our mission is to promote and foster the keeping, breeding and showing of exhibition, heritage and pure breeds of poultry, waterfowl
, turkeys, pigeons and cage birds. The Avicultural and Poultry Museum was officially opened by the then Queensland Minister for Primary Industries, Hon. Henry Palaszczuk, on Saturday 28th June, 2003. There are a number of dioramas, painted by artist Andrew Morris, within the Museum each focussing on different aspects of poultry and bird keeping: the arrival of the First Fleet; a poultry show; the role of zoos in preserving bird species; pigeons in warfare; and foreign species of birds that now call Australia home. The museum has on display a large variety of artefacts, taxidermied birds, books, exhibition cards and ribbons, trophies, newspaper clippings and a whole range of other bird related tools, articles and vintage and historic equipment. Our memorial commemorating "Animals that have been used in warfare" was officially dedicated on Saturday 6th September, 2014. We have the only memorial dedicated to "Our Forgotten Winged Allies" in Australia. The memorial plaque remembers pigeons and their handlers during wars and conflict. A second plaque is dedicated to all war animals that also served. We are the only specialist museum of this type in the Southern Hemisphere. The museum is operated by an all-volunteer staff. 100% of all membership and donations go towards the maintenance, preservation and enhancement of the historic items on display.
