Last Friday night we hosted a very special Abbey After Dark event to celebrate our extraordinary Abbey Museum volunteers during National Volunteer Week.

Our amazing team of volunteers contributed a staggering 68,000 hours of work last year alone. They bring history to life every single day, fulfilling our vision to enrich lives through the stories of our collection. We could not do what we do without them.

With 2026 being the United Nations International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, it was the perfect moment to pause and say a massive thank you. Our staff loved turning the tables to serve our volunteers with delicious food, drinks, a custom museum riddle by our volunteer Bri, and an exclusive "hidden secrets" tour led by Senior Curator Michael.

Thank you to every single volunteer who gives their time, passion, and energy to the Abbey Museum. You build connection, purpose, and lasting positive change in our Abbey Museum community.
