Named after Mon Repos beach near Bundaberg, the location of his early aviation experiments, the house links Bert Hinkler’s professional endeavours with his personal life. Hinkler Hall of Aviation and Hinkler House ‘Mon Repos’ are set in the picturesque tropical surrounds of the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens Precinct located in North Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia’s gateway to the Great Southern Barrier Reef. Also home to Fairymead House’s Sugar Museum. Built in 1890, this grand local homestead houses local sugar industry memorabilia, exploring the development of the local sugar industry from its earliest days.
