The dinner to celebrate 80 years of Nambucca Heads is an event not to be missed.
Intrinsic to the celebrations is the release of the Sub-branch's eighty-year history - 'We've Got Your Back' - and this is an extract from the book's back cover:
'We've Got Your Back demonstrates how conflict has shaped Australia as a nation and highlights the impact those who have served with the Australian Defence Force has had on the Nambucca Valley.Their service is woven deeply into the fabric of our community, influencing our shared values, traditions and sense of belonging.'
It will be an evening long remembered.

The new memorial in Macksville honours Frank Partridge, a truly remarkable local figure. He was the youngest Australian and only militia soldier awarded the Victoria Cross in World War II, recognised for extraordinary bravery during the Bougainville campaign in 1945.
A memorial like this isn’t just about marking history—it keeps stories like his alive in the community where he grew up and is buried. The existing memorial tradition in the area already highlights his courage and legacy, noting how he continued fighting despite severe wounds and inspired those around him.
Credit to Nambucca Valley Council for continuing to invest in that legacy. For a town like Macksville, it’s not just a monument—it’s part of local identity.
