TWO DAYS TO GO
CAMEO exhibition closes at 5pm Saturday 30th May.

As a collaboration between artists and shoe designer Betty Ennis of bettybossyboots, the artists drew on cameo shaped leather then give their drawings a title. Betty took inspiration from their drawings when designing the shoes, then added her own title.
Both titles are printed on the gallery wall labels, for example Fiona Morgan titled her drawings NEON FLASH, then Betty’s shoe design title is: HARRIED: FEDERATION SQUARE, NGV & THE STAINED GLASS CEILING.
So funny, if you know, you know.

The graff style drawings by yours truely Linda Franklin artist are titled: MAITRI & PREM YOGIC SADHANA. Betty’s title is: DIVING DEEP … INTENSE DEPTHS OF EMOTION

Betty titled her own drawings on the red T-bar flat shoes:
ALIEN BLOOMS

Betty offers hand-made commissions, wearable art, tailored fittings and 1-1 workshops. PM her if you need a special design.

BUDDIES

Buddies make the best collabs.
Bespoke footwear maker of
engaged seven artists including Betty’s long-long-time friends:
Paloma White
Susan Drobits and Helen Gibbons Their synergy shows.

All the artists drew on the shoe leather using Posca pens, then Betty treated the leather so became silky smooth to touch.

MEET THE ARTIST
VANESSA BRADY is in the gallery today as she is exhibiting her bird paintings in both CAMEO and CAMEO COMRADES shows.

SPOT her Striated Pardalote painted on leather, then sewn into the boots designed and hand-made by

THEN SPOT her New Holland Honey Eater and Blue Heron mixed media collages on the group wall.

After studying a Bachelor of Arts at RMIT, Vanessa’s career has been Music Marketing and Events Managment for many years.

Currently, she works as a Project Manager at Federation University whilst keeping up her visual art practise. Check out Vanessa’s page

DAWN LIM
Is showing 7x paintings in CAMEO COMRADES Exhibition of Art & Design.

Dawn has been a prolific painter for decades, although she recently shared that these will be the last large paintings that she’ll ever paint (damn our aging bodies)

Trudy Fatnowna Edgeley lives in Ballarat, is of Yidiniji / South Sea Islander heritage. Her painting of a cassowary bird titled:
MY GRANDMOTHER’S TOTEM is particularly powerful, as it is also Trudy's personal totem.

JOEL HAMMONDS
Is the artist who sits the gallery each Thursday during CAMEO COMRADES Exhibition of Art & Design. It is brilliant to watch his amazing drawing skills, both by hand and digitally.

POP IN to view Joel’s drawings stitched into bespoke boots made by bettybossyboots and his fine line drawings on vintage mannequins.

Joel is a graphic designer who specialises in hand screen-printing

MEET THE ARTISTS
Terrtu and Rob Mancini sat the gallery on our first day open (after our main opening event last Sunday) This creative couple work across many disiplines.

Individually, Terrtu specialises in fibre and textiles, then Rob is a long time graphic designer, who deep dives into paint and print. Together, they make stunning lamps, with Terttu making the shades by hand, then the print designs and quirky bases are made by Rob.

Their lamps (and other works) are part of the group exhibition CAMEO COMRADES, alongside CAMEO exhibition (an affiliated event to BC+DW = Ballarat Craft + Design Week)

POP IN to meet a different artist each day.
