A new body of sculptural and narrative work by Athanasios Lazarou, ‘Tools for the End of the World’, on show at Floating Goose Studios from August 28 - September 20, 271 Morphett Street, Adelaide/Tarntanya.
“The present arrived as if from the future, carrying the faint authority of something that had already been lost.
They said the map had once coincided with the world.
Afterwards, no one could remember which surface had begun to weather first: the map or the world.
The first surveys agree on very little. Some describe an empire of extraordinary precision; others insist it was only a province enlarged by successive acts of description. By the time its inventories were assembled, the distinction had ceased to matter...”
