Brennweite. Fotografie im Dialog mit Leica.

Am 10. November kommt Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Vorsitzender des Aufsichtsrats und Mehrheitsgesellschafter der Leica Camera AG, nach Innsbruck. Er erzählt, wie aus einer Kamera eine Weltmarke wurde, und davon, was Leica bis heute antreibt.

Mit ihm auf der Bühne stehen zwei Fotografen, die mit Leica arbeiten: Pat Domingo, Mode- und Lifestylefotograf aus Wien, und Laurin Strele, Dokumentarfotograf, der dorthin geht, von wo andere fliehen.

Drei Vorträge, eine Panel Discussion und danach Zeit für Gespräche. Wir sind mit Kameras vor Ort, die Sie in die Hand nehmen und ausprobieren können.

Eine Veranstaltung der Landesinnung der Berufsfotografie Tirol gemeinsam mit Leica.

Auf einer kürzlichen Reise nach Kolkata, Indien, fotografierte Steve McCurry ( ) mit der Leica SL3-P und tauchte dabei in eine Stadt voller lebendiger Farben und ständiger Bewegung ein. Während der Monsunzeit verwandelten heftige Regenfälle die Straßen; an jeder Ecke bildeten sich Wasseransammlungen, doch die Stadt kam niemals zum Stillstand. Steve bewegte sich frei durch die wechselnden Bedingungen und beobachtete, wie der Regen das Licht veränderte.

Julia Nimke (julia nimke l photographer) mit dem neuen Leitzphone auf eine Geschäftsreise nach St. Moritz. Ihre tiefe Verbundenheit zur Natur und die Leidenschaft, außergewöhnliche Orte zu entdecken, treiben ihre Arbeit an. Julias Ziel ist es, authentische Geschichten zu erzählen. Sie sagt: „Das Fotografieren mit der Kamera hat mir großen Spaß gemacht, besonders im RAW-Format. Introducing the new Leica Summicron-M 66 f/2, a reinterpretation of one of the rarest lenses in Leica M history.

A Spy Lens Specifically Developed for a Secret Mission

Originally developed by Dr Walter Mandler at Ernst Leitz Canada in the late 1960s for a classified US Navy contract, the Elcan 66 mm f/2 was a custom-made lens for covert reconnaissance photography. Produced in a limited run of around 200 units, it was designed to achieve the highest possible resolution while maintaining a fast lens speed and a compact, unobtrusive design.

The Summicron-M 66 f/2 continues the story of this extraordinary lens as part of the Leica Classic Line. Building on the original concept, its unusual focal length opens up a new photographic dimension and bridges the gap between classic standard and portrait focal lengths.

Limited to 660 units worldwide, each Leica Summicron-M 66 f/2 is a unique piece of Leica history. In November 2026, the lens with serial number 001, the first-numbered lens in the edition, will be auctioned at Leitz Photographica Auction in Wetzlar. A unique opportunity to acquire this exceptional example of contemporary Leica history.

How can one not fall in love with photography? It’s an experience that cannot be replicated by any other means. Photography is about throwing yourself into the deep end and then some and whilst some think it’s about capturing images, for me it’s the process of photography that I adore and why I continue to stick around through the thick and thin.

The Shot:
Turns out by slowing down life and embracing boredom again into my life, my dreams have come back that ignite new passion projects. One day as I was driving to my local crag, an idea hit me like a lightning bolt where I conjured the concept of illuminating a crack from within on an iconic trad climb. After all, the crack is the feature of trad climbing and I wanted to search out the perfect fissure. Moab UT has always brought me back time and time again and teaming up with Angela VanWiemeersch, we found ‚Seventh Serpent‘ in Long Canyon. As per usual, my timing is atrocious and a heat wave had descended onto Moab which meant we only had a few precious shaded hours in the afternoon to rig the lights into the crack. I’ll always be a nervous wreck in these situations but when I raced back across the canyon to set up my position to capture, what a spectacular feeling it was to witness the crack come alive as the darkness enveloped around us.
