EPISODE 6 | ANCIENT ART ERA 🏛️

Journey back to the beginnings of civilization, where art was deeply connected to mythology, spirituality, power, nature and everyday life.

In Episode 6 of our Art Era Conversations, Dr. Nafisa Motiwala takes us into the fascinating world of Ancient Art—from the symbolic traditions of Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia to the idealised forms of Greek art and the realism and grandeur of Roman art. Ancient artists used sculpture, architecture, murals, pottery and reliefs not merely for beauty, but to preserve beliefs, stories, identities and cultural memory.

Through Dr. Nafisa’s insights, we discover how these early artistic traditions laid foundations that continue to influence the way we create, interpret and experience art today.

Introducing Walid Salih Osman, an Impact Producer, documentary filmmaker, and creative producer committed to creating stories that inspire social awareness and meaningful cultural dialogue.

His featured digital art, “ALL ABOUT RAMESH SHUKLA”, is a short documentary film exploring the life and legacy of Ramesh Shukla, with a focus on his contribution to cultural history and visual storytelling. The project is seeking development funding of approximately 25,000-30,000 AED to support research, production, and development.

Introducing Mahrukh Bari is a Pakistani architect and multidisciplinary artist based in Dubai. Her practice explores architecture, memory, materiality, and cultural heritage through digital and mixed-media art.

Her featured digital art, “Between Memory and Stone”, is Created from a photograph taken during a historical site visit to Seetpur, Muzaffargarh, Punjab, this work reflects on architecture as a vessel of memory, history, and cultural identity. A solitary figure approaching Tahir Khan’s mausoleum evokes scale, passage, and our connection with the past.
