My emphasis through the landscape is not a literal place but an emotional “terrain” of nostalgia — an empty, gentle space where memories can float. We’re so thankful to everybody who joined us at the opening of Ripples of Existence.

Ripples of Existence considers life as something that extends beyond the moment of its own occurrence. Every encounter, gesture, relationship, memory, and experience leaves something behind, a trace that continues to move outward, often beyond our awareness.

We move through one another, leaving impressions and receiving them in return. A brief encounter can alter a life; a memory can resurface years later; a small act can continue to shape someone long after it has passed. Like ripples moving across water, these moments expand beyond their original point, connecting the individual to something larger than themselves.

The exhibition reflects on the privilege of experiencing a life at all: to witness, to feel, to remember, to love, to lose, and to leave traces behind. The show brings together stunning works by Faizan Afzal, Warda Fatima, Aiman Faheem, Sheharbano Hussain and Aimen Maqsood.

The show opened on Saturday, August 29, 2026, and remains up until September 07, 2026.

My work explores this idea of the self as a constantly evolving terrain, where experiences, uncertainties, and changes leave their traces. Faizan Afzal’s work explores the quiet connection between water, memory, and emotion. Growing up beside the rivers of Gilgit-Baltistan, he became drawn to the stories, fears, and healing carried in their flow. Through gouache on wasli, he creates layered, symbolic imagery where personal history blends with the shifting nature of water. Each painting reflects how landscapes hold our experiences and return them to us in subtle, transformative ways, revealing the emotional depth hidden within natural movement.

For generations, Emirati women have carried more than tradition. They have carried families, communities and the stories that shape our identity.

This artwork brings together two symbols that helped build the UAE, the pearl and the date palm, merging them into one form. Passed from hand to hand, they represent the knowledge, resilience and generosity that women continue to pass between generations. On Emirati Women’s Day, the piece celebrates not only what women have inherited, but everything they continue to nurture and shape for the future.

Maheen Elahi is a Lahore based visual artist specializing in Contemporary Miniature Painting. A recent graduate of the National College of Arts, she explores the possibilities of miniature beyond its traditional framework, engaging with themes of landscape, memory, and atmosphere.

“Born and raised in Lahore, my practice is shaped by the city’s layered histories and quiet, atmospheric rhythms. I work within the tradition of South Asian miniature painting, using fine squirrel-hair brushes, hand-prepared wasli paper, and layered gouache and natural pigments.

My process is slow and deliberate, grounded in repetition and attention. I am drawn to trees, still water, and open fields, forms that hold space rather than describe it. These elements allow me to explore states of transition: between presence and absence, movement and stillness, sound and silence.

Rather than constructing narratives, I focus on atmosphere and the emotional residue of lived experience, light shifting across a surface, the subtle changes that accompany time and introspection. My work considers how moments of quiet can become sites of grounding, where solitude is not emptiness but a return.” – Maheen Elahi
