Want to know how it all got started?🧐💝

Read all about it here:

We love to think we have all the time in the world to chase our dreams. But sometimes, life has to shake us to the core, to make us pay attention. For me, it was when I had a mountain biking accident that tore every single ligament from the bones in my hand. I almost lost the very tool I now use to....

A day in the life at Annemie Odendaal Art Studio, is all about finding a balance between focus and rhythm! 🌿🎨 Between morning emails, endless admin, and doing research over a cup of tea, the real magic happens at the work table.

Today was a beautiful mix of carved lines, textured ideas, and watching Lapine’s next adventure take shape (spoiler alert, she went to Egypt..). I always make time for strolls through the garden to clear my mind and catch fresh inspiration.

Art isn’t just in the final piece: it’s in the quiet, everyday moments, the patience, and the daily hustle behind the scenes. ☕✨

Thank you for sharing my journey!

In case you haven't met Lapine, let me introduce her 👇

👉 Meet Lapine, my origami bunny, who serves as both my muse and avatar. 🐇
I created her while in Paris, and took pictures of her all over the City.

Every paperfold I make, shapes her - just as every decision we make, shape our lives. She is a symbol of vulnerability, innocence, and resilience.

👉 For Lapine (and me), Paris is more than a pretty backdrop - it is a whole source of energy, escape, and reinvention. Between the two of us and the city itself, something quietly magical happens in the studio.

👉 She is the thread that ties all the stories together - across linocuts, charcoal sketches, sculptures, paper constructions, and beyond. Whatever the medium, wherever the series goes, Lapine is usually somewhere in the mix, asking questions and nudging the work deeper.

Now you're all caught up! 😝

I created a delightful 12 month flip-over Birthday Calendar of the pictures I have taken, that will take you through the romantic streets of Paris with Lapine. Every picture has a location of where it was taken.

This calendar makes for a very unique gift, and can last for years!🎁🐰

This right here.
This is the entire reason I create.💞🙏🎨

There is no feeling quite like standing quietly in the room, watching someone connect with a piece of my work. Seeing a smile break out, a quiet moment of reflection, or genuine delight in their eyes.

To see my art bring joy into your world leaves me grounded in absolute humility and gratitude. The greatest gift an artist could ever ask forThank you to everyone who stops, look, and let the work speak to them.

Thank you for letting my work be a part of your story. I love this journey, and I’m so thankful to share it with you

I do what I do because of moments like this. 🤍✨

Trust me, you DO NOT want to buy these adorable flying piggies from my "Why Don't Pigs Fly?" bronze sculpture series! 🙅‍♀️🐷✨

Here’s why you should definitely stay away:

- They are waaaay too cute: Seriously, the bronze charm is off the charts.

- Too much joy: Your daily happiness levels might reach entirely unmanageable heights.

- Collection syndrome: Owning just one is impossible, you’ll end up wanting the whole series.

- Dinner party chaos: They cause far too many intriguing conversations and compliments from guests.

Best you don't look at them for too long... 😜💗

Spending the day getting lost in Johannesburg’s vibrant art gallery scene! 🎨✨

There is nothing quite like stepping away from my own easel to wander through beautiful exhibition spaces and absorb the rich visual stories of local artists. Heading back to the studio with a heart full of inspiration and a mind buzzing with new ideas. 🖼️💡
