ONE-NIGHT STANDS IN WHITE MUSTANGS

The debut solo exhibition by Amogelang Maepa opens in Johannesburg following its Cape Town showing.

To mark the opening on 4 June, Maepa will perform a live poetry reading within the exhibition.

In ONE-NIGHT STANDS IN WHITE MUSTANGS, Maepa works between poetry and ceramic form to explore desire not as an event, but as a system – repeating, circulating, and leaving residue. The exhibition moves through the aftermath of intimacy, where forms hold what cannot be resolved: longing, exposure, and the persistence of feeling.

Loop is your invitation to walk, connect, and experience art in motion. This social walking loop links Candice Berman Gallery in Rosebank  and Mishmash Mediterranean in Parkview through a scenic 5.4 km circular route.

The Loop takes between 2-2.5 hours to complete.
Dogs are welcome.

Park at Tyrone Avenue parking. Meet at Mishmash at 11:00 before setting off on a relaxed ±2.7 km walk through the leafy streets of Parkview, past Zoo Lake, and into Rosebank. Arrive at 223 Jan Smuts Creative Hub for a complimentary beverage and the opening of an exhibition by Mark Hiltout. After exploring the Creative Hub we’ll take a different route back to complete the loop at Mishmash which offers a Turkish roll special for Loop participants.

FOR THE LOVE OF CORRUGATED IRON opens 23 May from 11:00-16:30 at 223 Jan Smuts Creative Hub with Candice Berman Gallery. 

In this posthumous exhibition, Mark Hilltout transforms discarded corrugated iron into works of unexpected beauty shaped by time, weather, and wear.
