No, that's not a house driving through Depot Town. It is an annoucement of a YHS program next Sunday the 22nd, 2 PM at the Ladies Literary Club at 218 North Washington in Ypsi. Tom Warner tells about the fun and tears associated with buying a house and moving it across town. All are invited!

It is part of YHS's effort to keep the history of Ypsi fresh!

As part of a class at Eastern Michigan University's Historic Preservation Program, students created a room in the Ypsilanti History Center's museum that replicated a room typically occupied by a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II.
Linda Kuba (center in picture), the granddaughter of a Rosie that lived in our musem when it was an apartment building, was present for the room's Ribbon Cutting ceremony.
Linda's family, great-granddaughters and great-great grandaughters of the original Rosie joined her for the event.
A special THANKS to Professor Nancy Bryk and her class for this special display. Our museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2-5, closed during the Christmas holiday.

The Ypsilant Historic District was approved by Ypsilanti's City Council during the 1970s. Historic Preservation was something new for the United States, Michigan, and Ypsilanti. The Ypsilanti Heritage Foundation was created and worked to introduce Ypsilanti to Historic Preservation. This 1978 4th of July Parade entry featured a circa 1850 Greek Revival house half restored and half neglected. Ypsilanti, "You are free to choose." Over the years, Ypsilanti has chosen to restore many of our 19th Century buildings and take care of our 20th Century buildings. Congratulation to Ypsilanti!
