The Ecotarium is aware that the Worcester Police Department received a report regarding what appeared to be a snow leopard seen near the baseball fields and the museum.

We want to share with our community that the Ecotarium does not house snow leopards. In addition, all animals in our care, including our mountain lions, have been accounted for and remain safely secured within their habitats.

We appreciate the concern and will continue to work with local authorities as needed. Thank you for helping keep our community informed and safe.

What better way is there to celebrate National Dinosaur Day than to have a huge dinosaur statue outside the building?😆

Siegfried the stegosaurus lives outside the EcoTarium, keeping a watchful eye over the grounds. During the Jurassic Period, these plant-eating dinosaurs would grow up to 30 feet long and weigh as much as 6,800 pounds! Even though these creatures could grow to be the size of a school bus, their brains remained the size of a walnut. (Yum!)

What fun facts do you know about stegosauruses?

Summer camp at the EcoTarium helps spark creativity and inspire a love of science and nature as children play, develop their communication and collaboration skills, and make new friends. For many children, it’s the first time learning feels like an adventure!

Your support for summer camp scholarships will help ensure that every child—regardless of their family’s financial circumstances—has the opportunity to discover, explore, and imagine what’s possible.

Help send a child to a week of the EcoTarium’s Discovery Camp. Every gift matters - make your gift today!

Speaker: Mary Knapp, Haystack Observatory
Saturday, June 13th, 2026
5:00 – 5:45 pm

Topic: Exploring the Uncharted Sky at the Longest Wavelengths: Exoplanets, Solar Storms, and the Time Before the Stars

Scientists have built space telescopes to access parts of the electromagnetic spectrum that we can’t see from the surface of the Earth: X-rays, gamma rays, UV, and infrared. There is one part of the spectrum that does not (yet!) have a dedicated space telescope: the low frequency or long wavelength end of the spectrum. Dr. Knapp will talk about science in the low-frequency sky, why we don’t have a telescope to study this part of the spectrum, and how developments in our current era may enable us to fill in this gap in our ability to study the universe.

Mary Knapp is a research scientist at MIT Haystack Observatory. Currently, Dr. Knapp splits her time between the GO-LoW NIAC Phase II study and a project management role in the NSF-funded SpectrumX center.

We hope to see you there!

This past weekend, we held a ribbon cutting ceremony to open up the EcoTarium's newest exhibit..."Music: Journey through the Sounds of East Asian Rhythms"!

This interactive exhibit celebrates the percussive instruments and sounds of East Asian cultures and encourages visitors to move and perform. Visitors can explore an array of traditional instruments and sounds, from Japanese singing bowls to Chinese gongs to a traditional Korean Buk drum. Mounted mirrors are placed like stages within each area to inspire visitors to move and dance while others play music. 🥁

This exhibit will be on display through Mid-August, so come check it out and make some music! Plan your visit on our website: https://ecotarium.org/visit/
