Book Week plans are going on. There will be a "Story Hour" on Saturday afternoons at 2:30 for the Little Folks, from November 13th until Christmas time. Plans are also being made to observe the 40th anniversary of the library in Kilbourn. Have you ever thought of the growth and progress made in your community through the library?
Exams are over and the report cards have been given out. Those who receive the highest 3 averages are as follows: Seniors: Beverly Snyder, 94; Marian Loomis, 93; Margaret Timme, 91. Class average of 87.
Juniors: John Heitman, 93.5; Keith Foster, 92; and Alice Helland, 91. Class average of 84.
Sophomores: Norma Foster, 94; Mary Heimel And Donald Moon, 93. Class average of 85.
Freshman: Ruth Morse and Harriet Stein, 91; Faith Stevenson, 90. Class average 82.
The new Masonic temple will be dedicated Tuesday. There will be a banquet at 1:00 p.m. after which there will be dedicatory exercises by Grand Lodge officers.
Word has been received that the bridge at this place will be widened and a walk for foot passengers placed along one side. It is doubtful if there is another bridge in this part of the country that is as bad as the one here at Kilbourn, and the only reason no accidents of a serious nature have happened there is because the approaches are so bad that it is necessary for everybody to come down to a very slow pace before attempting to make the turn at either end.
Miss Dorothy Walker, District Attorney for Columbia County, will be in Kilbourn Friday evening for the purpose of instructing women how to vote. She will be at the schoolhouse at 8:00 and it is hoped they will be a good turnout to hear her.

Some sneaky thieves broke into the schoolhouse at Oak Grove and carried off the clock and other things belonging to Miss Chamberlain.
Kilbourn and Baraboo played to a scoreless tie last week. On a wet, rainy day and disagreeable cold, it did not keep the crowd away and the attendance was the largest ever seen at a Kilburn football game. Glen Blatchley tried three dropkicks but the winds took the ball and barely missed scoring. Adolf Heinecke recovered a Baraboo fumble and was tackled at the five yard line as time expired.

Last Sunday the members of Bethany Lutheran Church heard the thrilling news that Robert Bartsch would accept the call to become their Pastor. The pastor has a wife and two little girls that will become a part of the Bethany Family.
William Brew and Philip Dorrow both won their events at the Southern Wisconsin Junior Livestock Show held at the Dane County Fairgrounds last week.
The Dells clinched their first Southern Ten Football Championship last Friday by defeating the "Profs" of Wisconsin High in Madison. Wisconsin High started out by penning the Dells Blues deep in their own territory. After a long steady Drive John Heinecke took a pitch out and scored the first touchdown. In the second half, Ken Niebuhr picked up a fumble and reversed his field and went over for a touchdown. Both of the extra points were missed. One game remains for Wisconsin Dells against Reedsburg.
Country Style Chicken Supper, Sponsored by Trinity Lutheran will be held Wednesday. $1.50 for adults, and .50 for children.
Mr. & Mrs. Mert Tofson are the parents of a son born in Baraboo.

Dr James Kivlin, formerly of Wisconsin Dells has assumed optometric practice in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Dr Kivlin is a 1976 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry.
WNNO will be hosting an open house this Saturday. Chuck Bailey, Buddy Albert, Krista McAllister, Bruce Golla and Khris McDaniels will all be in attendance!

Halloween Costume party at Ravina Inn: 1st prize; a weekend for two at Devil's Head, 2nd prize; dinner for two at House of Embers, 3rd prize; one case of imported b**r.
This week's football contest winners are: 1st.; Mike Lake, 2nd place, a three-way tie between; John Kiefer, Brad Gavinski, and Brad Bennett.
With basketball just around the corner, the Chiefs will be headed by A "New Face", 0 Gordon Lewison. In 1966 he came to Wisconsin Dells and was an assistant football and basketball coach for two years. In 1968 he was athletic director until Mr Bob Larson assumed this duty. Coach Lewison will be assisted by Jack Capelle. The Freshman Squad will be coached by Richard Tucker. Dennis Sweeney will Coach the 8th grade, with the 7th grade team headed by Harlan Feldt.
Dave Holzem was selected as Most Valuable Player and Mark Thompson as Captain of the Wisconsin Dells boys volleyball team. The Chiefs finish second in the regional tournament.
Wisconsin Dells assured at least a tie for the South Central conference Crown by beating Tomah 21-3. The Chiefs also find themselves ranked 2nd in Class A in the State Tournament Rankings. Friday night will be the final regular season game for the Chiefs as they host Portage on parents night.

Children who came to Sweeney Dental were in for several delights. As part of Kids Day, the office had face painting, handed out snacks and gave patients treats to take home. The staff got into the Halloween mood and dressed up in a variety of costumes. Teresa Murray as Major Pain, Dan Brown as Uncle Sam, Renee Baumgartner as Minnie Mouse, Dr Patrick Sweeney as a baseball player and Laurie Marsich as the Cat in the Hat.
Amy Tollaksen of Wisconsin Dells is among the star performers in the Baraboo Theater Guilds production of "State Fair".
Tom Cook is the loan representative for the Dells Chiefs cross country team running at the state Championships at Wisconsin Rapids.
Wisconsin Dells Youth Football League wrapped up its inaugural season culminating with an exhibition in front of a packed house at the Chiefs versus Nekoosa game at halftime.
Besides serving as Wisconsin Dells Director of Safety and Health, 44 year-old Marc Playman is Columbia County's youngest coroner in 40 years. Playman is accustomed to accidents, suicides and even murder scenes. It's all part of the job he took over in January.
15-year-old Kevin Hall collected his first ever buck. Shot with a bow east of the Dells in the Town of Newport. The 10-point buck featured of 14.5 inch spread.
Travis Hartman was Wisconsin Dells lone pick on the All Conference First Team. Second Team all conference team members included: Randy Ketelhut, Nick Schulz, Jim Capelle, Dan Holzem, and Ben Anderson. Honorable Mention goes to: Marvin Jones, Matt Gilmore, Chad Johnson, Nick Morse, Carl Krukowski, and Josh Van Fossen.
