The marriage of Miss Anna Baggot and Mr Patrick Terry was held at St Cecilia's Church on September 1st with the Father Hanert officiating. The bridesmaid was Miss Helen Baggot sister of the bride, the groom was attended by his cousin Frank Terry of Madison.
The August Pic-Nic meeting of the Izaak Walton League was held Thursday at Rocky Arbor Canyon, and to say that the meeting was a good one and that it was thoroughly enjoyed by those present, was only a mild expression of the satisfaction felt by the members and their visitors. There were several large fires built and seats had been arranged for the occasion in a semicircle and in the center had a stand where they served the good cheer that had been prepared for the occasion. It was a large variety of eatables and plenty of them. Daisy Thomas had promised to furnish the liquid refreshments and he made good in every respect. Also at the meeting elections were held for delegates to attend the state convention in Stevens Point. The delegates elected to this meeting were Carl Van Wie, C.M. Morris and Jess Blatchley.
Billy Sixty, golf expert and writer for the Milwaukee Journal, was in the city Wednesday and played a couple of rounds of golf at the Berry Golf Course. A foursome consisting of Sixty, Connor, Corning and Cone was formed the latter three gentlemen being from this city. The honors of the day were carried off by R.W. Conner he making the 18 holes in 67, Sixty made the 18 holes in 72.
Verdelle Stowell, who has made his home in the city during the past 6 years, is offering his house and lot here for sale and it is his intention to go to farming again. He has bought back his farm home near Big Spring and will make his home there.

Little Dorothy Marston, who had been in the hospital at Portage where she was being treated for paralysis of the throat, had recovered sufficiently so that it was possible to bring her home last week.
From New Haven Township Mrs Frank C**n has finished cleaning the Ward Schoolhouse, that night she also served dinner at her home for Tim O'Neill's Thrashers.

A loss of some $4,000 was suffered by the Dells Amphibian Lines lines last week when someone slashed 40 tires on the Ducks parked at the Old Mill. This is the second case of vandalism on this property within the last few weeks, the first one being damaged to the outdoor theater screen when someone threw eggs filled with quick drying red enamel at the screen.
Just as a matter of interest, a check was made of the cars crossing the bridge on Sunday afternoon of Labor Day from 3:30-4:30. It showed 1,454 cars crossing in that hour. Chief of Police Clark had offices at the bridge part of the day in order to keep traffic moving.
On September 11th 1851 was the initial meeting at Moe Settlement. Moe Settlement or what is now known as the Newport Lutheran congregation was organized. Pastor Preuss was one of the pioneer Norwegian ministers in Wisconsin, arriving from Norway in the 1851. Early Gatherings were conducted in the log houses. Finally during the Spring of 1860, work was started on the first church. Due to the Civil War this building was not completed until 1863.
In spite of the fact that Saturday was a dreary day, and Sunday more of the same, the Labor Day Holiday crowd came up to expectations. Saturday night many could find no accommodations and had to be sent to nearby communities. The ceremonial enjoyed two big nights, with some 2400 on Sunday night.
Inquiries about Wisconsin Dells are up at the Chamber of Commerce by about 2,000 for the year. As of September 1st of 1951 it is 15,656 inquiries compared to 13,668 in 1950.
Mrs Odessa Ebert entertained the Thursday Club, Wednesday afternoon. Election of officers was the main event with the following results President Florence Soma; Vice President Lucille Weyh; Secretary Beth Roney, Treasurer, Ione Phillips. Also welcomed was Mrs Ruth Backhouse as a new member. The next meeting will be with Leona Ginthers.

At its recent meeting, the Wisconsin Dells Kiwanis Club dedicated the Jack Heller Kiwanis Center at Camp Upham Woods in honor of Jack Heller's 15 years as director of Upham Woods. Jack was recognized with a plaque, as he is also very active as a member of the Wisconsin Dells Kiwanis Club.
Farm progress days for 1976 will be held at the Otto Christopherson Farm, 4 MI east of Wisconsin Dells. This year's Farm Progress Days will primarily be a corn harvesting field day. 721 exhibitors will be at the show. The largest number ever, far exceeding the previous record of 620.
82-year-old Fred Tolleth registered a 33 par at Pineaire Golf Course Sunday.
Residents in the Wisconsin Dells School District will go to the polls again to vote on the proposed construction of a new Junior High School building. The special election will be on Monday September 27th. Petitions bearing the signatures of 1,129 residents were presented to school board clerk Dorthy Wick. Approximately 500 signatures were required for a referendum. The amount of the referendum is for $2,250,000 to construct a new Junior High building.
Miss Mary Ann Dinegan and Dennis Lueck were united in marriage on June 26th at St Mary's Catholic Church in Briggsville. Margaret Gurgel was the matron of honor bridesmaids were Christie Lueck and Vicki Anderson. Maurice Gurgel was the best man, groomsmen where Steve Lueck and Bill Kurz ushers were Bob Lueck and Bill Dinegan.
Members of the Loading Zone team which compiled a 16-1 record and won the city men's softball league playoff last week by defeating the Sand Bar 8-5
Wisconsin Dells will open the 1976 football season at Black River Falls Friday night with hopes of avenging last year's 32 to 7 shellacking and taking the first step toward regaining the South Central conference crown it lost after winning three straight.

Following an undercover alcohol sting operation by the Wisconsin Dells Police Department only one location was found in violation and that was at Dan's Amoco. The sting operation was also conducted at Broadway Mobil, Lower Dells Mobil, Zinkes, Uncle Dan's Shell, Interstate Amoco, Citgo and BP.
Rotary Club is gearing up for Wo-Zha-Wa. At last month's committee meeting John Van Wie said he has ordered 1,900 pounds of beef for the event. That will make about 4,000 sandwiches.
Home Depot had its grand opening Saturday, guest's received 10% discounts and prizes raffled off. Wisconsin Dells Mayor Ben Borcher accepted a $2,000 in-store check to go towards restoring the old Kilbourn Library building. Kids Ranch director Ann Rako's accepted $1,000, which she said would buy toilets and sinks for three bathrooms being constructed at the organization's Rock Springs facilities
Mr and Mrs Jeffrey Braun of Lake Delton would like to announce the engagement of their daughter Catherine Marie to Matthew Hanson of Oconomowoc. Catherine is a 1994 graduate of Wisconsin Dells.
Wisconsin Dells Polish Fest 2001 will be held September 7th through the 9th at Riverview Park in Wisconsin Dells. There will be huge tents, wooden dance floors and free parking for the whole family to enjoy. The polka stage will feature 10 great polka bands.
The Wisconsin Dells girls volleyball team opened the varsity season with matches against Adams Friendship and Poynette and quickly found themselves in a hole in conference play dropping both sets. The Chiefs will get its next test on when they trip to Lodi to play the Blue Devils after that will be a home game against the Mauston Golden Eagles.
17-year-old Jeff Kaminski of Wisconsin Dells got great news last week from Madison Capitols head coach Bobby Suter. Suter was a member of the USA Olympic Miracle on Ice team in 1980. Kaminski was selected to be a member of the AAA Capitols hockey team out of Madison. The team will play out of Middleton but will make the trip to Chicago for nearly half of its games.
