Vivid Art Gallery, a new destination on Chicago’s North Shore where art is presented with passion and energy. We can talk about art all day…and we do!

At Vivid we know that acquiring art should evolve from discovery, not shopping. That’s why we created this space, a warm welcoming storefront with lots of natural light and vintage wood floors—more like a living room than a traditional gallery. It’s a place where the works of many artists, not just a few, will be displayed at all times, so you can be delighted over and over again. A place where you can hear the stories of the artists and their work. We provide an environment where art is a conversation—so whether you attend one of our educational events, or just stop in to see what’s new, we want you to leave knowing more than you did when you came in. We look forward to helping you find artwork you will be thrilled with for your living space.

Love this dramatic photograph by Larry Simon in this beautiful home office by Christy Foran Design! Also, a shout out to artist Dana De Ano, whose work we’ve exhibited at the gallery and which appears on the side wall. What a fabulous space!

Today is the day - it’s First Friday! From 4-7 PM, in conjunction with Hubbard Woods’ annual Art Walk, we will be hosting an opening for our October Featured Artist Susan Jacoby . Sue will be on hand to speak with visitors and answer any questions. We will have refreshments and live music will play throughout the district - don’t miss it!

October has come (already!) and we’ve got a new show up on our walls. Featured artist Susan Jacoby will be showing her landscape work, which is influenced by her observation of and engagement with nature. Her paintings intend to evoke the remembrance of a moment rather than a realistic depiction of a place.

We will also be hosting an opening for Sue tomorrow from 4-7, in conjunction with Hubbard Woods Design District ‘s annual art walk!

10 years ago today, Vivid officially opened its doors. The two featured artists that we held an opening for that night, Dorothy Alig and Jane D'Angelo (our local artist during our first month), are still represented by Vivid today and have been a joy to work with.

Thank you for a wonderful 10 years - we love being a part of this great community!!

Our Picture of the Week is Amie Campbell’s “In Summer’s Shadow.” This 24 x 30 inch, acrylic on canvas piece is filled with bright colors and energy, like much of her work. While her painting is abstract, there is an undeniable link to the natural world. The depth of the piece also serves to draw viewers in - stop by to see it, and the rest of Amie’s work at the gallery!

The annual Art Walk is quickly approaching! On Friday, October 2nd, please join Vivid and 17 other Hubbard Woods businesses in supporting local artists. Each store will feature the work of a different artist, with the gallery’s being the October Featured Artist Susan Jacoby , whose painting “Calm Passage” is pictured here.

Stop by Hubbard Woods for the art, as well as refreshments and live music - don’t miss it!

Our Picture of the Week is Sheila Arora ‘s “Heart Chakra,” a 48 x 48 inch piece. Sheila’s paintings are truly defined by their spontaneity, work resulting from a conversation on the canvas that can be wild, rebellious, and half organized, but always well-structured.

Stop into the gallery to see this painting, as well as the rest of Sheila’s work.
