Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became a man, lived a sinless life, and then willingly died on the cross as a substitute. As man’s sin brought death, the Son of God died to redeem man from his sins. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, showing that he held power over death and demonstrating God’s acceptance of Christ’s payment for sin.

Three-dimensional sculpting technology helped ensure anatomical accuracy and allowed the Ark Encounter artists to develop custom poses. Some were partially or fully 3D-printed, like these non-mammalian synapsids modeled after Cynognathus.

A handful of dinosaur figures can be seen on the Ark, like the stegosaurs. However, not every dinosaur-looking sculpture represents a dinosaur. The figures in the third photo, for instance, depict non-dinosaurian reptiles called silesaurs.

“‘I put My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. And it will be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh. So the bow shall be in the cloud, and I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.’ And God said to Noah, ‘This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth’” (Genesis (:13–17).

Aside from the bat enclosure on Deck One, the cages on Deck Two feature the largest number of fabricated animals on the Ark. Both familiar and relatively unfamiliar medium-to-large reptiles, mammals, and non-mammalian synapsids are depicted. As with the animals on Deck One, each of the figures were carefully crafted after real animals that lived at or near the time of the Flood.

Ark Encounter researchers accounted for more than just your run-of-the-mill animal varieties. These are rarely-seen reconstructions of creatures like these chalicotheres, odd-toed ungulates like horses, rhinos, and tapirs. Short hindlegs and long forearms gave them a somewhat gorilla-like stance, though they resemble the unrelated giant ground sloths.

Even staples of Noah’s Ark animal scenes look a bit different. Featuring a shorter neck and four ossicones, the Ark Encounter giraffes better represent known ancient varieties within the giraffe kind than do modern forms.
