Did you know there are more endangered reptiles than mammals or birds? Yet they get less attention because people tend not to like them as much. But reptiles need our help, and as God’s image-bearers, it’s our duty to steward his scaly creatures wisely.

Onyx is an eastern indigo snake, a federally threatened species. These snakes have been persecuted so much that they have nearly gone extinct in some regions.

“Eastern indigo snakes are a keystone species, and I wanted to display one to encourage people to protect snakes,” says Herptile and Programs Manager Channing.

He worked hard to get all the permits necessary to acquire Onyx, which requires that he be used as an animal ambassador to advocate for the conservation of his species.

Next time you think of endangered animals, we hope you’ll remember to support the scaly ones too, like North America's longest snake!

This week, our digital fabrication team at the Answers in Genesis design studio (where talented artists produce the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum exhibits) just started production on the doors for what will be one of the world’s largest indoor models of first-century Jerusalem.

They are creating an astonishing 25,000 miniature doors that the massive model will require for the thousands of different buildings and homes.

There are many different kinds of doors that have been designed in 3D software. They will be printed on one of our 113 resin printers. Once they are printed, they need to be cleaned and then cured with UV light. From there, they will need to be painted and assembled into the massive 2,000-square-foot model.

These photos show some of our 3D printers and a rendering of what the scale model will be like.

Are you looking for something to do on Father’s Day this weekend? You should bring the family down to the Ark Encounter, where all dads receive free admission on Sunday, June 15, 2025!

This offer for free admission includes grandfathers, adoptive and foster fathers, and yes: fathers of unborn children—since, based on God’s Word and the science of genetics, we know life begins at fertilization. And don’t forget: all children 10 and under enjoy free admission in 2025! There’s no limit to how many children can come free, though, of course, the children must be accompanied by at least one adult.
