Today was Memorial Day, a day to remember and honor those who served in the U.S. military.

Multiple generations of the Piatt family are remembered in our military room. They are honored in exhibits and tell their own stories through letters they wrote during their time of service. Some of these letters date all the way back to the Civil War.

They, like your own family members, will never be forgotten.

The Mac-A-Cheek Foundation for the Humanities (MFH) is proud to launch our “Pave the Way for the Next Generation” campaign.

When Abram Piatt built Mac-A-Cheek Castle in the Valley, he envisioned it as a place of history, creativity, and community.

To honor that vision, MFH is thrilled to have a matching grant partnership with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) to improve our driveway, sidewalks, and parking lot.

Through this campaign, we are securing a lasting legacy of accessibility, ensuring MFH’s natural, “living” classroom at Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek Valley is welcoming to all learners.

Swipe through the carousel to see the current conditions. From deep seasonal mud to heavy tire ruts, our pathways require a major structural upgrade.

We are physically smoothing the path so that school buses full of students, families pushing strollers, and visitors of all abilities can safely explore our “living” classroom without barriers.

Our goal is to raise $20,000. Because the State triples your impact, hitting this target unlocks the full power of our matching grant, allowing us to complete these critical improvements.

When you give today: A $25 donation becomes $75 of support, a $100 gift turns into $300, etc. of direct impact.

Let's pave the way for the next generation, together!

This event brings together a variety of organizations to help you explore the science of nature. Discuss pheasants and learn about pollinators, examine pelts of common Ohio animals, and apply your knowledge of erosion at the popular water table!

Castle Staff and volunteers will help you explore the art of nature. Create your own art and "play" with others by creating your own puppet shows, interacting with a Piatt poem about birds, and dancing with our trees.

When you are finished, take a self guided tour of Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek to continue exploring nature. Regular admission fees apply.
