Meet our Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern! The MAK Center for Art and Architecture is excited to welcome Kevi Walsh to our team this summer.

Kevi Walsh is an experimental artist working primarily in video and installation, currently studying Fine Art at ArtCenter College of Design. She is interested in prompting phenomenological investigations of personal and collective mythology and the unknown.

As the Archives and Engagement Intern, Kevi contributes to the development of the MAK Center’s ongoing Digital Archive Project and supports educational engagement across its three R.M. Schindler sites. She has previously worked at ArtCenter and the Institute for Art and Olfaction and is passionate about the preservation of history and culture. Kevi plans to pursue an MLIS at UCLA with a focus on digital archivism and is particularly interested in evolving approaches to representing physical objects in digital environments.

The MAK Center for Art and Architecture is pleased to present Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons, an exhibition by the Danish artist collective SUPERFLEX. The exhibition brings together a focused presentation of works spanning more than three decades of the collective’s practice at the MAK Center at the Schindler House.

Designed by Austrian-American architect R.M. Schindler in 1922 as an experiment in communal living, the Schindler House was designed to accommodate collective daily life as well as personalized areas for individual activity. Playing off this history, Rainbows, Sponges, Flies, and Spoons presents four bodies of work, each occupying its own space, completely separate yet strangely connected.

Through subtle manipulations of familiar objects and images, the works produce moments of humor and estrangement while exploring questions of infrastructure, ecological interdependence, and collective perception.

The Austrian Consulate General, the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, and Villa Aurora are pleased to present a book talk with Monika Czernin, highly acclaimed author of “The Emperor Incognito: Joseph II’s Journey Through Enlightenment,” in conversation with Claudia Gordon, director of the Villa Aurora.

Join us at the MAK Center at the Schindler House on Wednesday, June 3 at 6:00 PM for a discussion of "The Emperor Incognito," the story of an extraordinary man in an age of upheaval: a ruler who spent a quarter of his twenty-five-year reign not on his throne, but on the road. At the heart of the discussion is the subject’s contemporary relevance, as Czernin notes: “Today, we are once again living in a time of crises. Societies are drifting apart and good governance is at stake.”

Counting down to our spring fundraiser, the MAK Center Architecture Tour.

Following the tour, gather at the MAK Center at the Schindler House for a ticketed reception to close out the day. Visit Raphael Soriano’s Polito House (1940) on Saturday, May 9, during the MAK Center Architecture Tour Spring 2026 fundraiser.

Architect Raphael Soriano, best known for his contributions to the Case Study House program and steel frame construction, worked in Los Angeles from 1936 to 1953, where he interned briefly for both R.M. Schindler and Richard Neutra before founding his own practice. Built using a redwood frame and steel window and door frames, the house marks Soriano’s early use of steel, a material he would further explore in the 1950s and 1960s.
