Today we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day and the Native peoples whose history in this land runs far deeper than our own. 🪶

Long before Parker County had its name, the Comanche, Kiowa, Wichita, and other Native nations lived, hunted, and traveled across these prairies.

The museum is closed today, but we're open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm, with free admission.

Our upcoming Homeschool Day: Texas Archeology is officially FULL!

We're so excited to welcome all of our registered families on Wednesday, October 14th, as we explore how archeologists uncover the past and what clues can teach us about those who came before us. 🔍

It was a special evening spent with the creator behind Goodbye to a Prairie. We’re so grateful that she shared the work and stories of her father, local artist and archeologist Homer Norris, with our community.

It's our second month of Frontier Makers, and we're leaning all the way into those spooky October vibes! 👻

Join us Thursday, October 15th at 4:30pm in Pioneer Cabin Park as we explore the old art of tin punching by designing our very own lanterns. 🏮✨

Heads up: this one involves a hammer and nails, plus holding a can filled with ice. If you have a pair of thin mittens, bring them along so little hands stay warm! 🧤

It's starting to get spooky here at the Doss! 👻

Join us for October's Art Hour for kids: Clay Ghost Tealights! Each participant will use air dry clay to create their very own bootiful floating ghost. Once dry, it can be placed over a battery operated tealight candle for the perfect Halloween glow. 🕯️
