What a great Easter Monday in P. S. Jones Park for the 65+ Community. The weather was beautiful and these seniors had a blast with games, prizes, dining and just good ole fellowship with peers. The Alumni Association was thrilled to host them. See everyone next year. 🐰

On March 27, 2025, Mrs. Gladys Johnson, devout member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church, and Linda Wallace-Street, church historian, visited our Museum Curator with a very special request. After attending our unveiling of the Dowdy Home's Hometown Heritage Historic Marker, they wished to apply for a marker for Metropolitan. The church has a rich history that predates emancipation. We were honored to make this our second marker project. And we couldn't ask for a more dedicated and hardworking team of researchers, than the ladies at this church. We also owe a tremendous note of gratitude to Stephen Ferrell and resources in the Brown Library History Room for getting us through one particularly difficult aspect of the documentation required by the Pomeroy Foundation. The end result and reward was the final unveiling of the sign, February 26th, during the last week of Black History Month.
Congratulations, "Metropolitan", on an honor well-deserved.
