Did you know Tigers roar, but they cannot purr.Because of the structure of their vocal cords and larynx, big cats face an evolutionary tradeoff: they can either roar or purr, but they cannot do both.🦁 Why Tigers RoarTigers belong to the Panthera genus (which includes lions, leopards, and jaguars). They have a flexible ligament in their larynx instead of a rigid bony structure. This flexible ligament allows their vocal cords to stretch, creating a deep, resonant, and incredibly loud roar that can be heard up to two miles away.

Space Farms is a 100 acre zoo & museum located in Wantage, NJ.
