Carin Shanley – Trinkets-2-Treasures
Carin has always been an artist at heart, with a passion for creating, experimenting with different materials, and transforming everyday objects into something unique. From oil painting, crafting, gardening, and DIY projects to making handmade gifts for family and friends, she has always enjoyed exploring new ways to express her creativity.

After retiring and moving with her husband from the Poconos in Pennsylvania to Ventnor, New Jersey, Carin began exploring mixed-media assemblage art. Her creative journey took an unexpected turn when a friend gifted her a five-pound bag of old jewelry and assorted toolbox gadgets. Inspired by the possibilities, she combined these unexpected materials to create a custom piece that she sold, sparking the idea for what would eventually become Trinkets-2-Treasures.

Today, Carin transforms recycled and repurposed items—including vintage jewelry, hardware, gears, and everyday household objects—into imaginative works of art. By bringing together an eclectic mix of materials, she creates cohesive, one-of-a-kind pieces that are both beautiful and fun. Her work invites viewers to look beyond the ordinary, discover unexpected connections, and embrace the imagination and creativity found in giving new life to forgotten treasures.
