CONTEMPORARY NARRATIVE REALISM
Many artists will be present for the opening reception. Refreshments and lite bites will be provided, and valet parking will be available in back.

“Contemporary Narrative Realism” is a survey of artwork by gallery and guest artists who explore the complexities of academic and narrative realism through their own unique subject matter and visual language. Participating artists are invited from across the country, and their subject matter includes narrative, still life, floral and figurative artwork. Artists in this exhibit work in a variety of media including oil, acrylic, pencil, ceramic and mixed media. This exhibit aims to create a dialogue about current artistic practices in American Realism.

Please join us at M.A. Doran Gallery for a demonstration & talk with Artist, Marshall Noice on Saturday, April 25 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm with time for questions to follow.

Marshall will be discussing one of the challenges every artist faces - how to get a painting started. He’ll share his tried and true techniques and demonstrate how he gets things off and running in pastel and oil painting. As Marshall says, “Inspiration is great, but what if you can’t find it?”

“Hell or High Water” by Michele Mikesell examines common idioms and phrases that are from various countries. She offers her own visual representation of these thoughts in her paintings.
“Almost Animal” by Shawn Smith explores the intersection of the digital world and reality in his sculpture. A concurrent exhibit of other works by Shawn will be shown at 108 Contemporary.

“Moving Towards Spring” features a new body of work by Marshall Noice. This show celebrates that moment between between winter and spring where soft and subdued color meet the strong and vivd color palettes of Spring.

“Winter Mix” features a curated blend of gallery artists who infuse color into their work. This show is an uplifting moment in the midst of winter.
