A postcard image of the Art Deco terminal of Tulsa Municipal Airport. Beginning operations in 1928, the airport's taxiways and landing strips were bare ground where grass was mowed and the terminal was made of wood and tar paper. In the next few years, improvements were made, including the introduction of the modern terminal in 1932. It was made of masonry and designed by Fredrick Kershner, employed by Leon Senter, who himself designed several Tulsa landmarks such as the Tulsa Coliseum, the Philcade, the Tulsa Fire Alarm Building and Will Rogers High School. By the 1950's, increasing aviation travel made the airport's pre-war layout inadequate in dealing with the demand, leading the city to fund construction of new facilities, including the terminal. With the opening of the new terminal, it was decided to demolish the old terminal in 1965.

Different angles taken of the ceiling of the Philcade lobby. This Art Deco design incorporates gold leaf that is overlaid with glazes to give it a simmering appearance. It is a redesign of the initial style, which was Italian Renaissance; but was changed when Waite Phillips thought it was old fashioned and desired a modern look.
