The Old Barracks Museum is now open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM. Renovations are ongoing, but visitors are now able to come enjoy new exhibits and daily living history programs that focus on the history of the building, from its colonial past to present day.

The Ten Crucial Days 250th runs Dec. 24-27 across Washington Crossing, Trenton and Princeton. The hardest week of the ten isn't on the schedule.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of once again welcoming the Museum of the American Revolution’s Living History Youth Summer Institute to our museum. This six-week intensive program introduces high school and college students to living history initiatives. It includes field trips to historical sites, workshops on museum education, curation, and community outreach, as well as opportunities to participate in hands-on crafts and interpretive planning

During this year’s visit, the students had an opportunity to learn about the new and revamped programs at the Old Barracks Museum that were developed during our closure. They got to see a musket demo and had an introduction to the medical room. There was a discussion on the expansion of interpretation following the research that the interpretation staff completed while the museum was undergoing restoration. The visit concluded with learning how to make tent stakes, where each student had a chance to make their own.

This is our fifth year hosting them, and we look forward to having them back again next year.
