Christian County Historical Society CCHS & Museum: Open Thurs.-Sat., 10-3, & also available by appointment We house the Genealogy Society and their library for family research.

Come tour Christian County’s first courthouse where Abraham Lincoln walked and where he argued cases with Stephen A. Douglas, walk through the Woodall Building which includes the jail and showcases military memorabilia including uniforms, weapons, a Civil War diary and other artifacts. Tour the Log House built in the 1830’s, the Bee Castle which is thought to be the only one of its kind in the state of Illinois, the Buckeye School which served as a schoolhouse from 1866-1948, the Depot which was originally located in Buckhart Towhship and the Morrison House which is currently under going renovations. The ladies of the Christian County Historical Society, aka "The Persimmon Crew" have been busy pulping for our surplus of persimmon pulp. They even had the youngest pulper helping one day. We have already pulped 137 cups; we still have a lot more to go to meet our quota.
If you are interested in the harvest process, please give us a call at 217-824-6922. It is a great way to reconnect with old friends while meeting new ones!
