With temperatures reaching the mid-80s this week and summer just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to revisit some classic Lake Tahoe action. 🌊☀️
Back in the ‘90s, Tahoe’s waters were the stage for some seriously rad water skiing and jet skiing moves. Big air, bold tricks, and endless summer days made for unforgettable memories on the lake. Before smartphones and social media, the excitement happened right on the water—and everyone wanted a front-row seat.
Who remembers these days? Better yet, who was out there making waves?

Did you know these submerged tree stumps in Lake Tahoe are older than the pyramids of Egypt? 🌲🌊
Thousands of years ago, an ancient forest stood where the lake now rests. Studies conducted in the 1990s revealed that changing water levels slowly submerged the trees over time, preserving them beneath Tahoe’s crystal-clear waters like a prehistoric time capsule.
Some of the stumps are estimated to be more than 4,000 years old — predating the Great Pyramids themselves.
A hidden piece of ancient history, frozen beneath the surface of Lake Tahoe. ✨
Learn more about these submerged ancient tree stumps in our Under Lake Tahoe exhibit, open Wednesday–Sunday from 11 AM–4 PM.
