Historic St. Mary's Mission and Museum

10/15/2026

What a beautiful day to mark the end of the 2026 season!

A big thank you to our volunteers, supporters, and visitors for making this a wonderful year.

After we close today, we still plan to have special events, so stay tuned! Also, our work continues, and we are still in need of donations to complete the museum expansion, Legacy Hall. This is an important addition to our community to help preserve and share our heritage for generations to come.

Please help us reach our goal. Every contribution brings us one step closer to completing this important project.

Donations can be made online at https://saintmarysmission.org/donate/ or mailed to Historic St. Mar's Mission. P.O. Box 211, Stevensville, MT 59870.

Enjoying the last few days of our season!
Visit Historic St. Mary’s Mission before we close on October 15 and experience the beautiful grounds, historic buildings, and peaceful setting.
Thanks to those who have visited us this season, especially the many school groups who take our tours to learn about Montana history.
Also, our museum expansion is underway! The new space will allow us to share more of the Mission’s history, our collections, and the story of the Salish people whose homeland is the Bitterroot Valley.
Please consider making a donation today to help us complete this project and protect and share this important history for generations to come. Every gift makes a difference. https://saintmarysmission.org/donate/

The bitterroots are blooming and this short window doesn’t wait!
The bitterroot flower is Montana’s state flower and one of the most unique wildflowers in the West. It blooms low to the ground, often before the leaves fully emerge and usually bloom for only a short time in late spring and early summer, which makes catching them in bloom feel extra special.
Even on chilly, rainy days, a drive through Stevensville and the fresh mountain air around Historic St. Mary’s Mission can lift the spirit.
The bitterroot flowers may be small, but a big reminder to slow down and take in the season while it lasts.
Stop by and visit. We are open Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00am –3:00pm.
