Preschool children experience Artful Play at SMoA!

SMoA works with Springfield City School District's Clark Early Learning Center and MVCDC (Head Start) sites for Artful Play experiences. This joyous work happens thanks to dedication from each school or site.

Today we want to shout out our gratitude to Clark ELC's Instructional Coach who kept calendars straight, scheduled buses, supported field trips, and did everything possible to bring art into the lives of children and educators. Thank you, Melissa, for your work and time and we wish you all the best in your retirement! 🎉🎉

Thank you to the incredible Sound Bath Practitioners who filled the Springfield Museum of Art with healing vibrations during this month’s Come Find Art.

Donovan and David created an immersive, multi-instrument sound environment while Kisshiyah guided visitors through meditation and reflection, transforming the galleries into a peaceful, sensory experience. Guests also explored neuro-graphic artwork in the studio, with many bringing their creations into the gallery to continue drawing while surrounded by sound and art.

The experience beautifully complemented the exhibition Resilient Spirits, honoring the rhythm, energy, and craftsmanship behind the metal artworks created through the strike of chisel and hammer.

A big thank you to Perrin Woods for partnering with the Springfield Museum of Art to bring first and second grade students into the galleries for hands-on learning experiences!

Through visits designed in collaboration with teachers and museum educators, students explored connections between art, reading, and fine arts curriculum goals, discovering new ways to learn, observe, and create along the way. We love seeing the museum become a space where classroom learning comes to life through art.

May 10 is a perfect day to nurture yourself with art!

Drop in at the Springfield Museum of Art for Come Find Art and experience the calming atmosphere of live sound baths in the galleries, along with neurographic art in the open studio. CFA is a free, all-ages day of creativity from 12:30-4:30 pm this Sunday.

Sound baths offer gentle, resonant music created live in the gallery. Visitors are invited to sit or stand, take in the sounds, explore the artwork, or simply enjoy the space. Practitioners Kisshiya and Donovan each bring their own instruments, creating unique, immersive soundscapes inspired by the art, the moment, and the mood of the gallery.

A truly relaxing, sensory experience, we hope you’ll join us!

Art Belongs to All People, including our youngest artists!

This spring, the Springfield Museum of Art partnered with Miami Valley Child Development Centers (MVCDC) to bring creativity to life for local children and families.

Two MVCDC sites joined us at the museum for a special family event featuring a pop-up show of children’s artwork, along with sensory friendly, hands-on activity stations throughout the galleries designed to inspire exploration, imagination, and joy.

We’re proud to create space where every child can experience the power of art.
