Embroidery progress:
finished the figure! She is lovely.

Embroidery progress:

I think I'm calling the tree done on this; it is time to move on to the figure. Also, I have to get the highlights onto the far left trees too.

I think the cloak will be a pretty w**e color so it stands out from all the cool tones, but...keeping in value scale with the nighttime surroundings.

I tried today to color loosely, and with more subdued hues; I think I was successful...
Using watercolor helped for the background. I always seem to end up with high saturation if I don't work hard not to. I love high Chroma color very much. Getting out of my comfort zone sometimes is necessary for me.

When I do, it feels like I'm being lazy, and sloppy, while I'm coloring. However... once I step back, it looks so nice! I guess I need to "get out" of my obsessive nature of wanting perfection in detail. A lot of times, looser really is better.

Anyway...I need to do this more!

Prismacolors
Polychromos
And CastleArts Harmonious pencils

This book by Rachel Reinert
'Woodland Wonderland'

The paper in it is good enough for light to moderate water use.

More embroidery progress... I have to quit for the night; my arm is getting sore.

I got some light reflections and highlights in on the trees. I'm plugging away at things, bit by bit.

Current embroidery progress:

Nearly finished with the black base of the tree. Next will be color reflection, and highlights from the crescent moon.

I enjoyed coloring that last page so much, I colored another by Maria Trolle...this time in my 'Luna' book I picked up Tuesday.

I used all 3 of my usual pencils:
Prismacolors
Polychromos
And CastleArts Harmonious

I used iridescent watercolor on the little moon on the girl's forehead.

It's finished!

I... LOVE how it turned out! I colored it to depict how mid-September feels to me; golden light, mild afternoons, and gentle breezes.

This page is from Maria Trolle's coloring hardcover 'Universe' ...a compilation book of her previous releases, with a handful of new illustrations made for this publication.

I used:
Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, Polychromos colored pencils,
with 1 CastleArts Harmonious pencil in 'seaweed',
and 1 yellow-gold glitter gel pen for the border.
I used some gold acrylic paint for the golden light effects.

I think this is my favorite coloring for this year, so far.
