Last week I gave a tour to the Southborough Trailblazers. This two-hour tour was an opportunity to share how Art on the Trails works: how we select the artist and the poets, and how the program is funded. Funding is an important topic that I don’t often address. Our budget is made up of grants from Southborough Community Fund and Mass Cultural Council as well as sponsorships by local businesses. This year we received support from Middlesex Savings Bank , Jennifer Juliano, Realtor , Fay School, Southborough, MA , and Precision Automotive. We use our budget to cover expenses including artist and jurors stipends, printing of our book, and marketing costs. My (Catherine Kundrath Weber ) time (around 200 hours/year) goes mostly uncompensated. We have never asked for donations. The trailblazers group encouraged me to tell you of our funding challenges so that the community can support this program that everyone gets to enjoy for free. If you have visited Art on the Trails and want to support us, visit the Southborough Open Land Foundation Venmo account (SOLF1) and make a donation with a note that says it’s for Art on the Trails. We’d appreciate your support so that we can continue to bring this program to you in future years. Thank you!
