Bring back the memories.

I recently attended an event at WBUR's CitySpace theater celebrating the 25th anniversary of Found Magazine. Found Magazine is a collection of, you guessed it, found objects. These small scraps of paper, notes, lists and other ephemera are collected and presented to the reader as small glimpses into other peoples lives. Many of them are humurously absurd, but they all made me realize how much humanity and memory can be instilled in objects. This months frame shows off a beer can label. While it wasn't a "found" object, it is a thing often discarded. For me, however, it brings back great memories. Red more here: https://conta.cc/4eQgyaY

This piece is especially important to me because it is honoring my father who passed away a little over two years ago. My father was an artist (probably where I got the bug) and had a varied and interesting career. His earliest work was done with airbrush in a photorealist manner. He worked on magazine advertisements, book covers, and possibly his most seen, this album cover for Deep Purple. Being able to add my own craft to this piece of art from my father brought me a deep satisfaction and connection with him. Now I can enjoy this album cover and know that when I look at it, I'll see our connection through it forever.

A custom shaped frame for a unique print!

When our client saw The Passage of the Hours by Edwin Austin Abbey in real life they fell in love with it. It was awe inspiring in the museum in its size and beautifully gilt circular frame. Unfortunately when they wanted to get a print of it for their home, they could only find it in a bland, square, black frame. That just wouldn't do. Luckily they brought it to us and we were able to take it out of that boring frame and give it a custom circular look to bring back those memories of what they saw in the museum.

Some artwork is so striking that it calls for something special in the framing. As a rule of thumb, we generally like the framing to enhance the art without taking center stage. It can be a tricky balance to create a unique presentation that is fun while maintaining the art as the star of the show. With this amazing print we decided to keep the framing simple with a soft rounded black metal frame but we enhanced the image with a special v-groove cut into the matting to mimic the fiery outline of the womans armor.
