Guest Japanese sculptor Yoshi is finishing up her portion of the 2026 Holiday Sculpture today. Everyone of a certain age will recognize Frosty — but let’s call him Toasty the Sandman…
After finishing this sculpture, Yoshi will head south to Colab (formerly Art) Lounge for a logo sculpture re-carve.

Here at last is something very few people got to see at SandCastle Days 2026.
The Sandcastle Island, Inc. Thank You Wall - like pretty much all the sculptures on the beach - fell victim to a massive rainstorm shortly (and I mean VERY shortly) after completion. Every year we cross our fingers and hope we can keep the sculptures standing for a while. Last year we were lucky; this year, not so much.
We did get some photos before the deluge, of course. And scroll on down to see the whole list in easy-to-read form - including a few names that came aboard after the fact. But here are the "tried and true" who came through for us in our time of need — and you can thank them for the Christmas sculptures you see taking shape at the Sandcastle Village these days.

SandCastle Island, Inc - SSI - would like to invite some special supporters to get their names featured prominently on this year’s Sandcastle Days demonstration sculpture. (These donations help fund our Christmas Sculpture at the Holiday Sandcastle Village, construction of which will start right after Sandcastle Days. We are excited to bring back this annual tradition and - who knows? - maybe Santa Willie will come back this year!)

This year’s giant exhibition sculpture at Sandcastle Days will feature a special section - the ThankyouThankYouThankYou Wall (TYTYTY) - with the names of anyone who donates $100 or more to our nonprofit this month. No logos or images - just names — business or personal. Twenty-five characters or less, please. $100 minimum. All monies raised will go directly to our sculptors - to help subsidize their travel fees and to pay them for their help with our Christmas sculpture at the Sandcastle Village.

How does SSI support Sandcastle Days?

We provide/secure ground transport for the visiting sculptors
We pay for non-competing sculptors to assist with demonstration sculptures, i.e. Scott Dodson, Amazin’ Walter, and Christy Atkinson.
We co-sponsor Sandcamp (free sandcastle lessons)
We subsidize sculptors travel expenses (which have shot into the stratosphere this year)

Why does SSI find itself with such a shortfall this year?

We had to rebuild our sandboxes and replace rusted barrier walls.
The number of visitors was down about 15% from last year.
A couple of big regular donors dropped out this year.
Our per/visitor average dropped from .30 to .18.
We still managed to create 9 new sculptures over the past year and had over 500,000 people walk through.

Consequently, we find ourselves about $8000 short of the amount we usually have in our coffers this time of year.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
