Emergo Arts
Once upon a time, in a land far away…
Just kidding. It was Alpine, Texas, back in 2016.
That was when I made the transition from simply signing my paintings Emergo Arts to dreaming about an art studio and custom gift shop carrying the same name.
The name itself has always meant something deeply personal to me. After my dad passed away, I got a tattoo with the Latin phrase Luctor et Emergo - struggle and emerge.
Art became somewhere to put my energy. I started creating again and signing my work Emergo Arts. At the time, I had no idea how much those two words would eventually become.
Then came an old, run down gas station.
I spent a lot of time sitting across from that little building, imagining everything it could be. Eventually, we bought it, gutted it and brought it back to life. The original plan was simple: an art studio and gallery. A place for me to escape, create and work.
But, like most things in my life, it evolved.
The studio became a boutique. There were employees, custom orders, gifts, art classes, paint parties, festivals and more projects than I can probably remember. Emergo Arts became something much bigger than I originally imagined, and for several years, I loved that chapter.
Then in 2024, something changed.
I realized I wanted something different for my life. Something simpler. I didn’t want to always have somewhere I needed to be, a deadline to meet or a schedule dictating my days. I wanted the freedom to travel, create, explore and simply enjoy life.
So I closed the boutique.
It was a difficult decision, but it was the right one.
The two years since have brought a lot of travel, a lot of healing, lot of adventure and, somewhere along the way, a return to the things I love most. I’ve learned how much I value being where I want to be, creating when I feel inspired and leaving room in life for whatever comes next.
When I closed the shop, everyone asked me the same thing:
“So…what now?”
Would I open another store?
Absolutely not. 😂
I always joked that maybe someday I’d have a gallery when I moved to South Padre. But one thing I always knew was that I wasn’t finished with Emergo Arts. I kept the name. I kept the domains. I knew it would eventually evolve into its next chapter - I just didn’t know what that chapter looked like yet.
Now I do.
Welcome to Emergo Arts — Studio + Gallery.
You’ll start seeing my social media transition to the new branding as Emergo Arts begins its next chapter.
I have a beautiful new 600sqft studio here at the coast, with inspiring water views and natural light where I can create…and the gallery?
The gallery is going mobile.
No storefront. No schedule tying me to one place. Just art, travel, creativity and the freedom to take Emergo Arts wherever life takes me.
In a way, it feels like the name has come full circle.
Luctor et Emergo.
Struggle and emerge.
I’m really excited about this era of Emergo Arts - one that feels a little simpler, a little freer and very much like me.
I hope you’ll stick around and see where it goes. 🤍
