In our current exhibition, Motor City, Indiana, we explore the car companies that put our region on the map. This 1911 Pratt-Elkhart Model "F" was Pratt-Elkhart's only offering for 1911, although it did come in four body styles. The Elkhart Carriage & Harness Manufacturing Company traces its roots to 1871 as the then-F.B. Pratt & Co. It was incorporated in 1888, and became—after Studebaker—one of the region’s leading carriage builders. It entered the automobile business in 1909 with the Pratt-Elkhart brand which was renowned for its quality coachwork.
