It has been an exceptional year for the Society, with a succession of student visits, world class exhibits and activities related to the 250th Anniversary of our country, the re-purposing of our buildings, countless historical, family and house history questions answered, and cemetery restoration and research. All free.

Our mission remains steadfast: to continue the free programs that keep alive the history of our community. And for that, we need your help in meeting goals for the coming year. In addition to continuing free programming, they include extensive and expensive structural work on the carriage barn that houses so much of our agricultural and craftsmen tool collection. This project is in addition to our regular expenses.

We need your help to continue telling the stories of those who came before us.

FUN FEATURE OF OUR UPCOMING Berkshire Garlic Festival!

From the Farm to the Kitchen: Garlic Confit with Tracy Hayhurst

We’re thrilled to have Tracy Hayhurst, Farm Director at Greenagers and an accomplished farmer, chef, and food educator, joining us for a special garlic confit demonstration at this year’s Garlic Festival!

Tracy’s experience truly spans the farm-to-table journey. She began her culinary training at the renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, co-founded Chubby Bunny Farm in Connecticut, and went on to serve as both Farm Manager and Culinary Director at Husky Meadows Farm, where she developed its Seed and Spoon culinary programming. She also founded Undermountain Pantry, a farm-to-table cooking school and sourdough micro-bakery. Today, as Farm Director at Greenagers, she combines her passion for farming, food, and education while helping young people develop skills in sustainable agriculture.

So who better to show us what to do with one of our favorite ingredients? Come watch Tracy transform garlic into rich, mellow, delicious garlic confit—and get some ideas for bringing that garlic home and putting it to work in your own kitchen!

Preserving history and telling stories of those who came before us cannot happen without the collaboration and sharing of ideas with other local organizations. We are so grateful for The Du Bois Freedom Center and our time spent today learning about their mission. We can't wait for further cooperation. Exciting things to come!
