Heritage Village Museum is looking for enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors for the 2025 camp season! If you enjoy working with children, love history and the outdoors, and want to make a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you.

🗓 Camp Dates & Hours
Camp Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Extended Care: May require availability from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM depending on camper needs. (Staff will be notified in advance of any early/late shifts.)

📄 Job Responsibilities
Open historic buildings and prepare daily materials
Assist with camper check-in and check-out
Lead and support camp activities alongside the Camp Director
Oversee camper lunch and snack times
Provide instruction and demonstrations for crafts and activities
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all campers
Exemplify the Village’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Other duties as assigned

🌤 Work Environment
Camp counselors will spend the majority of their time outdoors or in historic buildings on site. Counselors should be prepared for physical activity including walking, standing, sitting on the ground, running, and assisting with hands-on activities in all weather conditions.

Must be 18 years or older
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working with children preferred
Adaptable, patient, and enthusiastic
Professional demeanor and positive attitude

Have you ever heard of the Mammoth Cheese? In 1802, Thomas Jefferson received a 1,235-pound wheel of cheese, made from the milk of every cow in Cheshire, Massachusetts—a colossal, dairy-fueled declaration of support for his presidency. While we won’t be rolling in any enormous wheels of cheddar this July, we will be serving up some of the Founding Fathers’ favorite holiday flavors!

Join us for Christmas in July, a special Period Dinner held inside our 1852 historic mansion at Heritage Village Museum. Enjoy a delicious menu inspired by early American traditions and presidential tastes—just in time for a summer Yuletide celebration!

🌙 Spirits by Starlight: A Paranormal Tour of Heritage Village ⭐️

🌸 Volunteer at the 2025 Jane Austen Festival! 🌸

We are thrilled that the Jane Austen Festival is less than two weeks away, and it’s shaping up to be the largest event we’ve hosted during my seven years at Heritage Village Museum!

📅 Festival Dates:
Saturday, June 28 | 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday, June 29 | 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 Heritage Village Museum

With up to 120 volunteer slots per day, we’ll need a village of enthusiastic helpers to make this celebration a success!

💼 Volunteer Opportunities
Shifts are available in the morning, afternoon, and midday (for tea/lunch-related roles). Want to volunteer all day? You can sign up for both a morning and afternoon shift—even if there's a slight overlap (we’ve accounted for transition time).

Here’s how you can help on June 28 & 29:
🎟 Admissions Volunteer – Check off pre-registered guests, take payments (training provided for credit card use)
🧥 Coat Check Attendant – Collect and store guests’ belongings, provide claim tickets
🚪 Gatekeeper – Monitor building entrances, check off attendees or count for fire code
☕ Hospitality Suite Attendant – Monitor VIP access and restock refreshments
🍱 Volunteer Lunch Attendant – Check off names, assist with food service
☕ Tea Server – Serve tea during sittings
🚌 Transportation Coordinator – Help guests navigate shuttle services (Age 18+)

Heritage Village Museum is thrilled to announce that after 16 years of renovations the doors to Myers Schoolhouse will be open to visitors once again! Join us for a grand opening reception on July 16 from 6-8pm to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our donors, volunteers, and contractors!
