Dinner tastes better when you get to keep the bowl! Join us for The Bowl, one of SebArts' favorite annual fundraising events, bringing together local artists, chefs, and our community for a special evening.

Here's how it works: Choose a one-of-a-kind, hand-thrown bowl created by a SebArts ceramicist, then enjoy a savory dish prepared by a local chef, served right in your new keepsake bowl!
The evening also includes appetizers, a silent auction, and three short films presented by the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. W**e will be available for purchase.

Creativity is an act of courage šŸŽø

Join us this Sunday, October 11 at 5pm, for a musical performance that will put some wind in your sails, and recharge your creative battery šŸ”‹

Bay Area singer-songwriters and Supernova Support founders, Karen Joy Brown and Katie Phillips, along with Briget Boyle and Joni Davis present an afternoon of original songs that beautifully sing the unsayable, and unapologetically confront internal and external obstacles to personal and artistic freedom.

This ā€œAll Songs Consideredā€ style performance and discussion explores the stories and creative process behind the song that will leave listeners feeling inspired and empowered to incite their own creative revolution.

We'll see you there, creating in solidarity āœŠļøšŸŽµ

For the past month, our ceramics studio—aka the ClayGround—has been home to artist-in-residence Li Zhanyang, a contemporary artist from Chongqing, China, and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, with more than 30 years of exhibiting around the world.

In just four weeks, Li created about seventeen new ceramic works, a remarkable feat in a medium where every piece takes patience, time, and many long hours. Inspired by our exhibition’s animal theme and the wide-open spaces of West County, his work draws on the farms—the horses and cattle all around us—the cowboys and Western landscapes he grew up watching in American films, and even the lasting echo of Christo’s Running Fence across these hills.

What moved us most was how Li described his time here: ā€œThe people at SebArts feel like a family.ā€ 🧔 Thank you, Li, for the art, the friendships, and for reminding us what a community-built arts center can be. And thank you to Stephen, Xiaojie, Alice, and everyone who helped make this residency feel like home.

Li’s solo exhibition and farewell party is today, October 6, featuring the work he created during his residency. Come see it in person and celebrate with us!

Some films stay with you long after the credits roll. ✨

"Come See Me in the Good Light" follows poet Andrea Gibson as they navigate an ovarian cancer diagnosis alongside their partner and fellow poet, Megan Falley. It’s a story of heartbreak, but also of love, laughter, and finding beauty in everyday life.

Beautiful, uplifting, and deeply sad, this film reminds us to be present—to notice the small moments of joy and make room for them, even when life feels overwhelming.

That’s the power of art: it can help us see the world differently. It’s what we celebrate through documentary film, and what poets like Sonoma County Poet Laureate Claire Drucker Claire Drucker bring to our community.

I can’t recommend this film enough. If you’ve seen it, I’d love to hear what stayed with you. šŸ¤
