Sound Waves, Claire Renaut CLaire Renaut (from left to right: Franch, German, English), 2026, Wool and spun newspaper. On view in Threaded by Language

Each piece represents the sound of waves of the artist speaking aloud a sentence.

From the artist’s statement:
Like the main character, Lesche, in Edgar Hilsenrath book “Berlin…. Endstation”, Ich bin verliebt in die Deutsche Sprache.
I am in love with the German Language
Je suis amoureuse de la langue allemande
This sentence repeated in each language in which I speak, read, hear and dream in sometimes, speaks about my love for the German language for which I have the most philosophical and emotional attachment.

Drawings of a Die Back, 1-3, Caite Mae Ramos Caite Mae Ramos , at Assembly Fair Assembly Art Fair
The drawings celebrate the season of ‘Die-Back’ : a winter rest a prairie must go through in order for its spring
growth season. To create the drawings, a single segmented
piece of Big Bluestem was dropped onto a drumhead platform which activated the sound of Big Blue‘s ‘collapse’, a moment of senescence or rest before its eventual next resurrection.
