Adirondack Artists Guild Celebrating fine arts in the Adirondacks since 1997. Operating as a 15 member co-op
art gallery.

The Adirondack Artists Guild is a cooperative retail gallery representing a diverse group of 14 artists residing in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack Park. The Guild promotes development of the arts in the community by hosting an annual juried show. Members are featured in monthly exhibits with receptions usually held on the first Friday of the month. An active member of Saranac Lake ArtWorks, the gallery is often a host site during events like the 3rd Thursday ArtWalks, the Studio Tours, and the Adirondack Plein Air Festival. Congratulations to Guild members Jacqueline Altman, Nancy Brossard, Kathy Ford and Anastasia Osolin for their artwork accepted into the 2026 Fall Open Juried Show at Arts Center Lake Placid.
The exhibit will be on view in the Annex at the Arts Center Sept. 25-Nov. 6th.
There will be an opening reception Sept. 25th from 5-6:30.

It is with great sadness that we share news of our longtime colleague and friend Jeanne Danforth’s passing.

Jeanne was born in Ohio on December 26, 1945 and studied art in Kansas City before moving to the North Country. Jeanne’s artwork reflected her love for the farm in Ellenbug, NY where she lived for many years. Her prolific output of drawings and paintings in pastel, acrylic, watercolor and oil included landscapes both domestic and wild, as well as portraits of the myriad animal inhabitants—also both domestic and wild—that shared the farm and its environs.

In addition to her studio in Chateaugay, Jeanne exhibited her art as a longtime member of the Adirondack Artists Guild in Saranac Lake, where she could often be found by visitors to the gallery knitting one of her many colorful handmade garments (to the surprise of no one who knew her, she did not believe in following patterns), until her retirement in 2024.

With characteristic self-effacing humor, Jeanne said of her creative life: “Like so many other artists, I understand the world much better in a nonverbal way. The world understands me much better, too, when ‘I write in paint.’”

In recent months Jeanne suffered from declining health, and she passed away on August 17, 2026 in Plattsburgh at the age of 80. The Guild will honor her memory with a retrospective exhibit of her artwork in January 2027.
