Congrats to the scholarship winners of this year’s Art Classic! Each submission was the work of very talented artists.

The winner for the $1,000 scholarship is Ellie Song of West Ranch High School, for the acrylic work “Family Dinner.” Ellie pours personal meaning into her work, hoping others can connect with her vulnerability. Her art acts as a bridge, allowing an audience to experience belonging with not only her, but with each other. She hopes to study visual arts, applying her themes and talents to the big screen.

The winner for the $750 scholarship is Chloe Oh of West Ranch High School, for the charcoal work “Darling.” Chloe aims to shed light on the inequalities within society, depicting topics such as gender identity and race. Inspired by Candy Darling, a transgender actress of the 1960s, she created works such as this winning charcoal piece to make sure her story and role in history would live on.

And finally, the winner for the $500 scholarship is Josh Saldana of Saugus High School, for the digital work “JustStep.” Josh is currently creating an animated short film inspired by his experiences in self discovery with his Latino roots. Within entertainment, especially animation, Latino artists are underrepresented—Josh aims to utilize his art to give voice to his community.

Good job to each of these amazing artists!
