🍎 Heart’s Delight: An Orchard Story

Running approximately 40 minutes, this professionally produced documentary tells the story of Messina Orchard Farm in San Jose and the generations of orchard families who helped shape the Santa Clara Valley before Silicon Valley transformed the landscape.

Follow the journey of Sicilian immigrant Stefano Messina and discover rare stories, memories and beautiful imagery of the orchards, blossoms and communities that once defined our valley — when Santa Clara was known as “The Valley of Heart’s Delight.” 🍎🌸

Did you know the family pool of Captain Lass was recently donated to the Harris-Lass House Museum?

Now, a little piece of local history is waiting for YOU to discover! 🏡✨

Bring the kids, bring your friends, and step back in time to explore the Harris-Lass House—and imagine what life was like when this pool was part of the family’s everyday fun.

🏊 Public Tours are held the First Sunday of each month, May through October

Santa Clara is rich in history, heritage, and historic places—many of which are preserved and operated as nonprofit museums.

The Harris-Lass House Museum is just one of several unique sites you can tour, attend events like Antique Fairs and Family Fun Days on the farm or even rent for your next special event. Each location offers a different window into Santa Clara’s past, community roots, and evolving story.

At this time, the only site temporarily closed to the public is the Berryessa Adobe, which is currently undergoing maintenance and restoration.

We encourage you to explore, visit, and plan a day discovering these hidden gems across our city—each one is truly one of a kind and full of history.

Come explore a fascinating collection of antique gadgets at the historic Harris-Lass House Museum!

The museum is fortunate to feature a wide variety of ingenious devices designed to solve everyday problems and improve daily life through the decades.

🔍 A gadget is defined as a mechanical contrivance or clever device—and this exhibit showcases how innovation, creativity, and practicality shaped life in earlier times.

Visitors will discover antique gadgets from many areas of life, including:

⚓ Two especially unique gadgets connected directly to the Harris-Lass House include:
• The Captain’s intercom system with speakers similar to those used aboard his sailing ships

It’s that time of Year and one of most popular events! On June 6, 2026 noon to 3:00pm the Harris Lass House Museum will be hosting Family Fun Day. Save the date

We love volunteers—and have s number of fun jobs.

Volunteers are requested to arrive at 11:30am and stay until 3:30pm to help clean up. Shifts are flexible.

High school students if you are looking for community service hours —we can help arrange that. Bring a friend or 2 to help and your paperwork—the more the merrier.
