Bright colors usually mean “back off” in the animal kingdom, but Scarlett’s California mountain kingsnake ancestors took that warning and ran with it, without any of the actual venom to back it up. Nature’s ultimate bluff.

Wild kingsnakes like her are dealing with a real threat, though: habitat loss from development is draining the moist forests and woodlands they depend on. Next time you spot a snake in your yard, let it be. It’s probably just handling your rodent problem for free.

BTS of our first print! 🖨️✨

Huge thanks to for providing CuriOdyssey with a WonderMaker ZR 3D printer and kicking off this exciting collaboration. We design and build exhibits in-house, and this machine helps prototype and produce custom parts for exhibits, programs, and camps.

This is what community partnership looks like: people and companies who believe in hands-on science stepping up to help us build the experiences that spark curiosity in every visitor who walks through our doors.

🐘✨ What a day. Thank you, Oakland Zoo , for an incredible partnership on Toss the Tusk!

Together, we turned CuriOdyssey's traffic loop into a place where community members could responsibly relinquish wildlife items, including one seriously stunning surrender: an enormous ivory chess set. Every item turned in is one less piece fueling the illegal wildlife trade, and one more tool for education and enforcement.

We were also so grateful to welcome the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Forensic Unit, who gave our visitors a front row look at the science behind fighting wildlife crime, from identifying trafficked ivory to tracing species of origin. Watching guests get curious about forensics, ask questions, and walk away understanding a little more about conservation? That's exactly what a day at CuriOdyssey is all about.

To everyone who stopped by, dropped something off, or just stayed to learn: thank you for getting curious about something that truly matters. 💚
