ABOUT SCOTT FILIPIAK
Scott Filipiak is an American artist whose retro-nostalgic pop art paintings evoke memories that keep our simpler past alive in today's hectic world. Since 2009, Scott has combined his graphic design profession with his fine art education to bring his "Retro Nostalgic" series to life in galleries and private collections across the US, Canada and Germany. In 2020, he introduced the "Crushed Series" as he sought new ways to paint everyday objects from his home. Scott makes the molded frames himself, which, combined with the realistic, almost photorealistic brushwork, create instantly recognizable objects that literally jump off the wall. The "Crushed Series" integrates technology through hidden NFC chips that result in entertaining, often tongue-in-cheek videos and websites.Scott lives in Ohio, USA with his wife, but travels often as their three adult children now live all over the world.

The Restaurant at Edna ft. EDNA Contemporary artwork. This is one of our pieces that interior designer, Emily Baker Emily Baker, selected for the restaurant. The sculpture is by Francoise LeClerc and is a perfect subtle statement for the behind the bar. The restaurant is full of natural, tactile materials, marble, limestone, muted greens and blues, and large windows that frame the sweeping vineyards and Islay Hill. They are slated to open the restaurant in November, but the tasting room is currently open Thursday–Monday, 11am–6pm, and with the last tasting at 4pm. The Restaurant at Edna.

ABOUT FRANÇOISE LECLERC
Françoise LeClerc is an artist working in ceramics, cyanotype and found photographs. Often depicting horses, her work evokes themes of emergence and transformation, sensitivity and trust. Expressing both boldness and vulnerability, her work can be simultaneously vigorous and quiet.

The child of immigrants from Taiwan and France, LeClerc was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area during the rise of Silicon Valley. Perhaps ironically, she is fascinated with the past. Her work examines personal histories that are simultaneously familiar and foreign, intimate and imagined; stories that ground us, and are yet just out of reach. They suggest a searching; a desire to understand experiences and histories that were not adequately explained.

After graduating summa cm laude from UCLA, LeClerc began her career in the motion picture literary department of CAA, the entertainment industry’s foremost talent agency, where she represented screenwriters, novelists, journalists and directors. When her mother had a stroke, she had to return to the Bay Area, where she transitioned to historic home restoration, and eventually found her way to sculpture, and later, 2D work. She lives on a two-acre farm in Sonoma County where she raises sheep, chickens, flowers and fruit. Françoise LeClerc

Art After Dark returns in one week from today, and it will be the second to last one of 2026! A new addition to the event this year has been Edna Pocket gallery, a miniature / spontaneous gallery for emerging to mid career artists who are interested in experimenting with installation or smaller shows for more intimate viewing. Pictured is an extension of April's ~Edna Pocket~ show during Art After Dark, which elaborated on a botanical silk artwork in the gallery with a moss/carrot/strawberry/flower tablescape. This was one of our favorite Art After Dark events :) See you at the next on Friday, Oct 2 from 5-8pm and meet a new friend and enjoy some Shindig to kick off the weekend

Isaac Lewin Isaac S. Lewin is a multidisciplinary wire and welded-steel sculptor whose work transforms the language of graffiti and lettering into dynamic three-dimensional forms. A graduate of San Luis Obispo High School, Lewin’s artistic roots trace back to growing up near the San Luis Obispo Creek and train tracks, where he was surrounded by graffiti from an early age. He began painting graffiti as a teenager.

He spent a year as an exchange student in Osorno, Chile, where he was further influenced by the city's graffiti and music culture. He later studied at the University of Puget Sound and earned his MFA from San José State University. Today, he works from a studio at the School of Visual Philosophy in San Jose.

Lewin creates large-scale welded-steel wireframe sculptures as well as text-inspired works built from invented letterforms. His process is intuitive—cutting and welding steel without measuring each element, allowing the sculpture to develop organically. As he describes it, “the space is just the paper, and the rod is the line.”

Install appreciation day! Pictured is work by San Jose artist Isaac Lewin, whose wall sculpture was collected by a home owner couple in Sun Valley, Idaho in 2024. It was a challenge to determine how to position Isaac's work in the home, so we included some of the visual mockups we developed to show how we determined the positioning and fit. Thankfully, we had great help and the piece fit beautifully above their stairwell!

How lucky to live in an area full of creative people who work hard. Here's our summer recap. We stayed home and kept close, but it's a gift to be a part of a place, to know and witness change on every scale, both individual and institutional, private and exhibitionistic. Thank you to our friends and frequents who keep EDNA a warm and welcoming place to be, both close and from a distance. We have a lot of love ❤️
