Rising Tide Community Mixer happening TONIGHT in our galeria hosted by Rising Tide

Join the launch of our Patreon page and a night with the Rising Tide Team. Light music and refreshments to follow a short program.

The Rising Tide is a revolutionary media project meant to educate agitate and propagandize the working masses. What began as a small group of community activists trying to spread the word about protest camps for Palestine has steadily grown but we need the people to do anything! To that end we invite everyone to come meet the team and learn how to support working class media in a time of rising fascism

Shizue Seigel, whose exhibit “Burden of Imagination” is currently on display in our galeria, and Christl Rikka Perkins discuss traveling to Japan, India, China and Tibet in search of identity and meaning and about the challenges and rewards of balancing creative work with social responsiblity.

Jesse ‘Chuy’ Varela serves as Program and Music Director at KCSM JAZZ 91, the Bay Area’s Jazz radio station. 2025 marks Chuy’s 42nd anniversary in radio. He has worked at KBBF – Santa Rosa, KPFA – Pacifica Radio in Berkeley, KJAZ Radio in Alameda, KBRG – Spanish Language Radio - San Jose, and KCSM JAZZ 91, as well as a news reporter/stringer for National Public Radio, Latino USA, Radio Bilingüe, and other radio entities. He has served as a consultant for the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, Oakland Museum of California, The DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, SFJAZZ, and numerous other organizations. In May 2024, Jesse ‘Chuy” Varela celebrated 40 years hosting The Latin Jazz Show, which he began hosting at KJAZ in 1984.

Other Dimensions in Sound is our Friday music series curated and hosted by Boohaabian multi reed player extraordinare David Boyce. Each week David will be inviting different musical guests to join him in our galeria for a night of musical medicina.

Tonight’s double dose of sonic sustenance is being brought to you by Wandering Clouds & Warm Spell

Wandering Clouds is made up of Jaroba on tenor sax and bass clarinet; Kersti Abrams on alto sax and flute; Mike Villarreal on drums; and Eli Pontecorvo on bass. We have collectively and individually been wandering through a variety of sonic worlds over the years, and come together periodically to improvise music reflecting our commonalities and differences.

Warm Spell is a vehicle and seeks to melt the experience of their listeners into a shared consciousness for a rare moment in the everyday of space and time, to recognize the possibilities of a life based on collectivity and playfulness. Warm Spell is an improv group consisting of Bay Area musicians who come together infrequently to jive. They will often be: vocalist/percussion (Marina Lazzara), Bass (Brian Lucas), Guitar (Tammy Fortin), Farfisa (JLee), Violin (Kevin Van YserLoo), Richard Marriot (Conch Shell, Flute, Trumpet).

In celebration of Filipino Heritage Month we are over la luna excited to have Pam Concepcion as our feature.

Pam Concepcion is a poet and a multimedia artist from Metro Manila, Philippines. She loves to write social melodramas on how political, social, and economic issues can intimately affect our relationships with ourselves, friends, lovers, family, and everyone around us.
Her first book, Unbecoming, a coming-of-age collection of poetry, photos and collages, was published by Riot of Roses in June 2026. She is currently based in Los Angeles and is the host of Avenue 50 Studio’s monthly poetry reading and mic series La Palabra.

¡LIVE music TONIGHT with Anhad Naad!

Formed in 2019, Anhad Naad Collective is a genre-defying ensemble rooted in the exploration of South Asian musical traditions and their intersections with global genres. The collective had its debut concert in 2020 in San Francisco, led by core members Divya Purohit Vyas and Jun Ishimuro (of Qb Moda Jazz). Initially, their work centered around blending South Asian raga-based music with the soulful textures of jazz, R&B, and Black musical traditions. With a flexible and evolving lineup of collaborating artists, Anhad Naad Collective has performed at notable Bay Area venues including Bird & Beckett, Integral Yoga Institute, the Golden Gate Park Bandstand, and events such as San Francisco’s Summer of Music hosted by Noise Pop. In 2023, the group expanded its focus to delve deeper into South Asian spiritual music, with a special emphasis on Sufi Qawwali traditions. Anhad Naad treats the spiritual dimension of Sufi poetry and music with deep reverence, often seeking guidance from poets and experts from Pakistan and India. Lead vocalist Divya Purohit Vyas has previously been a part of Bay Dervish in Alameda, a spiritual music collective associated with Sufi Way, led by the late Kiran Rana and Jeanne Rana.

She’s passionate about uplifting cultura, community organizing and social justice work. In addition, Lorena is a 20+year Aztec danzante cultural keeper, founding member of Chicano Elegance Foundation, CDMX Chicanx Sin Fronteras community, and is also active in the lowrider scene.
